I've got a simple question, is there a way to automate the "enable 3D display mode" setting in Windows display settings? Like perhaps some kind of script that I could set Kodi to run (similar to external players) when running files with 3D in the name.

what for? just enable it and leave it alone  

 If you leave it enabled, the TV/resolution sits in 3D mode all the time, which means 24p never engages properly for me in 2D movies, at least that's my impression from testing so far. 

 check your windows or GPU driver, it shouldn't enable stereoscopic mode. the settings just allows using stereoscopic mode by an application
