Would be interesting to know if setting to "off" avoids the problem. If it does try with "bob".

Ding-ding-ding!!! This is it, I can use anything but 'advanced' or 'auto' (which presumably is using 'advanced')

'off', 'bob(half)', 'bob' and 'advanced(half)' all seem to fix the a/v sync issue.

I didn't realize there was a video context menu, I thought all the settings were in the the player settings.

Thanks for the help on this, I can finally stay near the tip again!
