v17 LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 17.0)
(2016-05-16, 02:52)ragnaroek Wrote: #508-515

Does the above mean this problem started with #0508, and you don't have any problem with #0507?

(2016-05-16, 02:52)ragnaroek Wrote: Could this issue be related to an active add on, or a misconfiguration?

Quite possibly. Easiest way to determine that is with a "clean" .kodi - temporarily rename /storage/.kodi so that you start Kodi without any non-standard add-ons, and with default settings. If the problem is no longer reproducible then it's due to either a setting or add-on. Reconfigure Kodi and/or add back your add-ons until the problem is reproduced. There might still be some unexpected add-on behaviour after PR9778.

I tried searching but I do not see any answers. I am running a Zotac MA320 box with a Kabini A4-5000 CPU and the Radeon HD 8000 series graphics. Since it worked in v.7, I have to imagine it works in v.8 even if it is a test build.

For now, I will downgrade to 7 until I can figure it out.

Thanks in advance.

I had imagined users running test builds would post debuglogs ...

Sorry...I was thinking it was just a simple fix. I did a debug...click here

I went through a few other builds...#420 works...I think that was the last one that worked. This is a debug log from #420 Click Here

Any advice would be much appreciated.

No obvious audio-related error that I can see (but fritsch knows more about this than I do, so might see something I've missed). What I would suggest is temporarily renaming /storage/.kodi and testing a "clean" Kodi and #0515 without your addons (some of which are known to cause problems) and default settings/skin.

Boot up again and post the output of: xrandr --verbose please.

It's a kernel bug, which changed the default code to enable radeon's audio. I hope the fix goes to rc8 / final.

In all cases: File a bug report with bugs.freedesktop.org drm/radeon section

Then you have Deinterlaced forced to On and chosen "Deinterlace" method, which will bypass gpu post processing, copy all the stuff to memory and deinterlace in there. That makes only sense for interlaced content. This setting should never be set to "On".

Loaded another video and checked settings when playing and was set to auto so turned to off.

Loaded video not working and still no go, unable to do anything.

Not sure if the deinterlacd is per movie, but if is then unable to change on video not playing. Would be good if this option was in playback settings menu under video for global setting.

It is per video but there is a "set for all videos" Option...

No, #508 was the first and #515 was next I tested.

I did some bisection today, the only working builds without 100% CPU usage are #0330 and #0331(with Kodi Alpha1 - 5b9b4b5), all other show the same behaviour.

I'm sure my issue is not Libreelec related, the issue is Kodi related.

Was there a major change in Kodi after the 5b9b4b5 commit ? I think that was the point when " Vertical blank sync " disappeared.

I did a local test build today, with the 5b9b4b5 commit, this is running without the 100% CPU issue on my mentioned living room box.

Best regards

You're saying the problem starts with #0401?

These are the Kodi changes in #0401:

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/compare/5b9.....72769f69

As you can see, not many and certainly nothing that stands out.

These were the FernetMenta commits in #0401:

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/compare/xbm...18698e39ad

All but 18698e3 were present in #0331.

The LibreELEC changes don't appear significant either:

https://github.com/LibreELEC/LibreELEC.t.....baecc664

Did you manage to test a recent build with a "clean" .kodi, ie. with only stock addons?

Are there handy instructions for trying this build out on a USB stick? I would like to compare its stability against the current install on my Braswell Beebox.
linux 4.6 is out and the gui freezes are still there on braswell cpu sadly. Still no fix for that issue.

It seems kernel 4.6 is running really, really bad. Upgraded my Thinkpad T440s yesterday and even have screen flickering there ... it sucks hard, so I went back to 4.5.x. But more than filing bugs is not possible for us :-(

Don't know the LE guide lines here... but why not simply wait until severe show stoppers are fixed before adopting a new kernel (instead of always being on the bleeding edge)?
I switched my two clients back to #420, no issues so far...

or you can use 0509x that use old 4.4.7 kernel
