Thank you again PAT. I will look around and see what I can find. If you happen to find the link please do post it.

Never thought of LE on a stick, I'll give it a try.

Pat,

I found the driver you referred to and have installed it.

However Kodi 17 portable is still freezing upon startup at the splash screen.

Here is the log file. Hope I set the debug correctly it's been awhile.

Please let me know where the problem is, and hopefully I can now correct it.

Thank you....

Specifications and benchmarks of the AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics card ... It supports DirectX11, is the successor of the HD 5770, and features a higher clock and 80 more shaders. Comparison http://www.hwcompare.com/5704/radeon-hd-...-6770-1gb/ It might be worth while to give a slight overclock to compensate for any speed differences. Your debug log is fine and shows that you're into the splash page before the system runs into trouble.

Some differences: In the comparison of my log and yours (Not running or installed the PVR portion of Kodi) In the launch icon I have compatibility with windows 7 and running as admin. How much ram do you have available? The alternate, LibreElec booting from a USB stick.

your log

14:11:24.181 T:7572 NOTICE: Aero is enabled

Could not read plug-in directory C:\Video\Kodi\portable_data\addons: No such file or directory' (can you check if this folder exists?)

my log

Yes it froze again at the splash screen. But this time I had to use Task Manager to shut it down.

Prior to starting Kodi I set Kodi's launch icon to have compatibility with windows 7 and run as admin.
I have 8 mg of ram.

I noticed it didn't find the addons folder again but the folder and it's contents do exist (see photo below)

I also noticed this at the very end of my log, what is the CRemoteControl and is it significant to the problem since it failed ?

18:25:29.985 T:6240 DEBUG: CRemoteControl::Connect - failed to connect
18:25:29.985 T:6240 INFO: CRemoteControl:Tonguerocess - failed to connect to irss, will keep retrying every 5 seconds

From that log "Aero is enabled" while I have it disabled, makes the GUI a little more efficient, but it has never been an issue for me on or off. and just because the RemoteControl isn't responding shouldn't stop the show. So given the rest of the previous messages, I can only conclude something in your set-up is incongruent with the operation of Kodi and it's not showing up in the log (that I can see). As a last ditch effort, running LibreElec from a thumbdrive would prove out the hardware, with a totally new O/S just enough for Kodi and an entirely different version of the software.

Failing that, and Kodi is still something important to you, then consider a Raspberry Pi 3 or new GFX engine.

I will most likely be getting a Raspberry Pie in the near future however I do want to try to figure out what is happening here. If for no reason, than just to understand.
Could you point me to information on how to go about running LibreElec from a thumbdrive. Maybe that will show something ?

Now that said, believe or not I actually have a Kodi 18 Leia Nightly Build running on this very same machine. To be exact it is the ... KodiSetup-20170831-e22038f8ee-master-x64. I found it under 'development builds'. So, yea I can't get Krypton or Jarvis to run, yet Leia 18 64 bit is running great so far. EXCEPT it crashes when I try to shut it down. And I need to use Task Manager to shut it.

That and it's still not finding C:\Video\Kodi 18\portable_data\addons
Quote:''Could not read plug-in directory C:\Video\Kodi 18\portable_data\addons: No such file or directory'
when it is actually there. See photo.

Though I see where it seems to have found it here... 15:25:27.052 T:9204 NOTICE: load skin from: C:\Video\Kodi 18\portable_data\addons\skin.confluence (version: 4.1.41)

So if you don't mind please give the log a look and hopefully it isn't something as complicated as the previous ones.

Just curious is there something about Leia that would allow it to run where the others won't ?

Thank you...

That would be 64 bit version (sept 1st?) vs Krypton 32 bit. This message proves out {at least to me that your graphic will handle Kodi} but something beyond the local scope, perhaps the o/s or embedded hardware routines. It's also likely that LibreElec will work.

Re: Closing down/exit failing, you're making too many changes to properly diagnose this issue, running a default Kodi with default skin would prove out what you have is functioning well or not, once you add skins, boblights, amibox and extras we get, "Waiting for network services to stop", in the log and that's why you're having issues with the exit. Wait 10 minutes, and see if Kodi has an exit for the relaunch. It's likely you'll once again re-install from scratch and run default, ensure it's functionality and exit. (save this log should this be successful, and use it as a comparison for the future extras).

I see, sorry about that. I uninstalled that version and did a clean install with no changes made.

I installed - KodiSetup-20170904-3dbac37a81-master-x64 from the 'development builds'. It started up fine but again froze when I tried to exit.

Again you're getting the message CNetwork::NetworkMessage - Waiting for network services to stop.

How exactly are you shutting Kodi down? (with a remote?) Might be a good idea to pick up process explorer https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s-explorer and check properties for the network service that is holding you up.

I am only using a mouse, I click on the 'on/off' icon which brings up a small selection screen. I then click on Exit.

I took a snap shot of the screen -after- I clicked on exit and Kodi froze. I had Process Explorer open and set to 'always on top'.
And had the 'Properties' window open to 'Network/Disk' on the right

Not sure if that is what you were referring to ? Could you elaborate further on exactly what you need?

5th from the top, you see the application Kodi, navigate to it, hit the right mouse button and check properties. Sniff around the TC/IP

When I first brought up the properties screen (and Kodi was running) I found these three entries in the TC/IP.

As soon as I clicked on Exit under power options the three entries briefly flashed Red then disappeared. (as the Pic below shows).
Kodi also froze at this point. However I noticed that Kodi still remained (circled) in the main window of Process Explorer.
I then had to use Task Manager to shut Kodi down.

Some process is holding on to it, perhaps some external issue from the o/s, PE shows want is running at the time of exit, nothing I can see locally is holding up the show. Did you try the LibreElec from a portable yet?

Hi Pat, thank you.

Is there any other way of determining what the problem is ?

(2017-09-09, 17:07)PatK Wrote: Did you try the LibreElec from a portable yet?

Yes I did attempt it. I installed onto a USB Stick, rebooted (F12) then got to the 'Boot Menu'. However when it got to the part where it was going to install something, I hesitated as I wasn't sure WHERE it was going to install to. (It warned it would wipe out anything on that disk). So, I thought it best to ask first before I wiped my C drive or whatever it intended to install to.

That and I was surprised as I thought the installation I had run (LibreELEC.USB-SD.Creator.Win32.exe) already 'installed' it on my USB Drive ? Is this being installed twice ?

This is what I used....

LibreELEC.USB-SD.Creator.Win32.exe

Kodi 18 - LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 18.0) worth a shot.
