Try to set your own API keys.
Settings -> Scroll down -> Metadata and Artwork module -> API keys -> Personal developer API-key for TMBD

Hi. So I did input the TMDB API key but still the same. Did not work. So I thought if just start fresh. I cleaned out my Kodi, and after inputting the API key, I added my movie source. While scrapping the movies, each movie I went into the info, the "More like this" would refresh and display similar movies. It was working. BUT... after the scrapping was done and my movie database was all set, when I went into each movie, it was like previous... Not working. First scrape would display not similar movies then every movie I would go to, the More like this would show exactly the same movies. Would not change. Feels like the "More like this" widget does not kick/auto refresh upon entering a movie info. It's weird. When my movies were being scraped into the database, it would work. But when it was done scrapping, it would not anymore.

I get the feeling that this another stupid Android Kodi issue. I love Android, but I hate it as OS for Kodi.

Can you provide a new log please?

And it has to refresh, because ListItem.IMDBnumber/path is changing. The log is telling something about a connection/connection refused issue.

Yeah, I'll upload a new log later on. But if that's the case, it's an Android bug, possible to ad a setting in your skin interface to disable the "More like this" widget? Thx.

BTW, when I had my shield TV set up as a emby server too and was using embycon, all would work. Of course, it took a sec to load everything since it was reading the emby server, but all worked. But I had to stay away from embycon cause my shield TV emby server would disconnect frequently.

For EmbyCon I use the API of Emby to get the same results like on the web GUI or any Emby Theater app. A complete different approach

Please also try to set up a own omdbapi key (http://www.omdbapi.com/apikey.aspx)
You could create a free one, which supports up to 1000 daily requests. This key can also be added to the same setting dialog like the themoviedb key.

(Note: If it fixes it -> 1000 is nothing if you have a huge library. I highly suggest you to become a Patreon for $1 per month)

You can also try to manually upate skin.helper.widgets (https://github.com/marcelveldt/script.sk...er.widgets) and script.module.metadatautils (https://github.com/marcelveldt/script.mo...adatautils).

Windows 10 PC with Kodi 17.6 (Krypton), Emby for Kodi 3.0.22a and Embuary up to date.

Downloaded the DB Browser tool, loaded "C:\Users\Kristoffer\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\Database\myvideos107db" and found unique "tt"-values for the movies in my library.
Also downloaded the .xml-file and enabled the debug overlay. This yielded the same result; the IMDBnumber values are showing up correctly, with unique values.

Just like with robjbw, the "Cast"-widget works like it should, but the "More like this"-widget always show the same movies, regardless of it being the first time I'm viewing the info screen, the second time or the 100th time.

I'm not quite sure if the script uses the simplecache. Try to delete the simplecache.db file in your Kodi data folder "\userdata\addon_data\script.module.simplecache"

Please also test to reinstall the addons which I mentioned in a post above.

So here is the story. I got an OMDb API key. I did input into the setting. But still, did not refresh "more like this. Samecresults. So, I downloaded the master helper widget and replaced with yours. And it worked. The widget refreshed. Didn't even need the OMDb API in the setting. But it takes a little over 20 seconds for the widget to reload when I'm at the movie info. No matter which movie I'm at, takes 20...23 seconds for the widget to reload. So, still perplexed by this bug.

I've done the following:

* Downloaded script.module.metadatautils and extracted the contents of the .zip-file into C:\Users\Kristoffer\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\script.module.metadatautils
* I coulnd't find a folder for script.skin.helper.widgets, so I installed that addon through Kodi from (install from .zip).
* Exited Kodi.
* Deleted simplecache.db
* Restarted Kodi.

After doing the above and then opening a movie info screen, the "More like this"-widget actually shows movies similar to the one I've selected in my library.
However, the widget won't refresh when browsing to a different movie and viewing that info screen.

If I reload the skin through the side menu and try again, it'll show similar movies correctly, but only on the first entry.
Scrolling to a different movie and pressing "i" on my keyboard will not refresh the movies.

DISREGARD what I just said.

After reading robjwb's post I went back and let my Kodi stay idle on the info screen.
It DOES refresh, but like he said, it takes some time. For me it's about 8-10 seconds.

Glad it's fixed for you. Hard to say why it takes so long on your side. ISP routing issues? Slow connection? Android? I dunno.

I'm out of ideas because it does refreshing. At least this is what your logs are saying.

Ok, maybe the API has some load atm. It feels like it's slower than in the last couple of days, but for me it just takes ~ 1-2secs once the container get visible.
