Android Auto frame-rate switching is broken in the latest nightlies

2) What about the Denon i/p scaler pink image issue, is it a Kodi bug?
Thanks

1) It will use whatever resolution you have selected. But your TV should do a better job of upscaling.
2) Doubtful, sounds more like an issue with your Denon. A quick search seems to indicate that since others have had the same issue with different devices. But just turn off the i/p scaler and let your TV do the upscaling.

1) If the whitelist is deselected should it work like Kodi 17(everything upscaled to 4K plus Auto-frame switching)

1) No. No whitelist, no switching. Btw. why don't you just try it?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

I've tried it. I'm just clearing things up to make sure everything is working as it should(not a bug)Smile

There is no 1080p.60hz in the whitelist setting anymore on Android.
Also when you open System Settings it always wants to change your resolution to 1080p.50hz on both a FHD and 4K tv.
Anyway to fix this?

The first time you run Kodi 18 20180617, in the whitelist it shows 4096x2160 resolutions which is not even available on my tv, only 3840 ones are.
If you exit Kodi and reopen it, then the 4096 resolution settings are gone again and it shows correctly.

I will provide a log later.

No problem here with Kodi "kodi-20180618-38beda92-master-arm64-v8a.apk" on Nvidia Shield (Android 8).

Mine is grayed out too.
Everything plays back at 1080p 60Hz (which is my TV maximum)
Not sure why some people have access to whitelist and some don't...is it hardware related?
Would appreciate if someone can tell me how to access / edit this whitelist in order to get proper frame switching.
Thanks.

Hello,

Whitelist isn't working for me either.. (Kodi 18 alpha 2)
With Kodi 17 my TV was adjusting the refresh rate to 24hz for video requesting it but it doesn't work on Kodi 18.
In the choice list of the whiteList there is only 50hz and 60hz available Sad, there is no 24hz anywhere...

Any idea? Anyone achieve to resolve this same problem?

Thanks a lot,

BR

No debug log (wiki), no problem.

I suppose when it's in grey is beacuse your device is not able to use a different resolution and refresh rate of the default one (aka DESKTOP).
For example, on my mobile phone (Android 8) the whitelist is grayed out because my phone does not permit a resolution change.

Yes, Debug log is needed.

hello,

Here is the log debug.

As said in another post, what's strange is that I can see that the 24hz resolution is found..
But nothing in the whitelist choice or in the refresh rate choice ...

Thanks for your reply outcave.
I'm using two devices, MECOOL with Android 7.1 and a MINIX with Android 5.1
Both have the "whitelist" grayed out.
When I was running Kodi 17.6 on both the frame switching worked perfectly, the TV changed to 1080p 60Hz,  1080p 50Hz  or  1080p 24Hz according to what was played.
Therefore I can only conclude it must have something to do with the way the "whitelist" is coded in Kodi Leia 18.

I didn't know about the whitelist feature. After highlighting my whitelist auto frame-rate switching is now working.
I did have an issue. with my Denon AVR 7200WA amp, i/p scaler enabled but when I disabled it. Everything is working great  Smile
i/p scaler enabled
ImageImage
Solved my issue.
I changed the Nvidia shield HDMI output from Re2020 to RGB 709. Any other settings work apartment from Rec 2020.
The Denon AVR 7200WA amp does a much better job at upscaling than my LG 65B7 OLED 🙂
I am now convinced it’s a Kodi issue. Because previously I never had this problem with Rec 2020(Nvidia recommended settings) before the whitelist was implemented.
