v18 Lyrebird MOD 0.9.9 (UPDATE: 2019-09-09)
Is this skin compatible with IAGL now?
Kinda new to retrogaming. Got hold of IAGL and loads of rims, in the middle of settibg it all up. Just trying to find a skin that suits my needs..... Which I don't know what yet lol

How do I change the shape of the boxes? My PlayStation 1 games are in poster mode and sreached they should be Square

Any chance for an updated release over the weekend with fixes or is it still a while before everything with the Haze, Toggle On/Off, and Screens need to be reworked to account for the Haze Overlay changes like you mentioned? Thanks again for this skin and can't wait for the updates. Smile

@Rufoo How hard would it be to add/make a new View Type that combines the top Header style of Netflix mixed with the Big Box Cases below it like on your Keibertz+ View? This way you can get some more of the background art visible with the nice look of bigger cases. Doesn't need any videos playing when you stop on a movie, but just the nice look so it doesn't slow the skin down. The Bello skin has a Netflix style view to pick, but the cases below it are small.

@mattyspurs76
It is not yet compatible with IAGL as I haven't fully setup the addon on my development machine. There are some differences in how it works with the <system> tag compared to AEL and until I get that part figured out, the views won't work as they cannot dynamically adapt. It will be revisited but unfortunately, for now you'll just have to wait. The only alternatives are to use a skin which supports IAGL properly or has generic views with multiple box shapes or consider switching to a setup that incorporates the AEL addon instead if intending to use Lyrebird for now.

@tillaz87
Box shapes are chosen dynamically based upon the system type specified for your launchers in AEL. If the item has no system property or is a system that doesn't fall into one of the dynamic shape categories it will display posters by default and as a fallback. PSX games should default to square if your launcher has the system tag set as Sony PlayStation, so double check that is the case on your end. To ensure it isn't a bug I just went through the code and can confirm that that Sony PlayStation games fall under square when detected. Also, make sure you don't have Show Parent Items (the back arrow that appears in your list of items) on in your Kodi settings, because this item obviously is not a ROM or a launcher but a Kodi thing there is no system tag for it and if that item is currently focused the skin cannot ascertain what the system is will therefore presume it must be a poster and all items subsequently are too.

Hope that helps.

Not this weekend, no. The next is likely. Smile

Anything is possible and making views is my favourite part of the process. I sort of have an idea of what you're describing but by the same token I need more specificity. If you could either "frankenstein" an image together to give me an impression or show me a screenshot of a view that is on the same wavelength as what you're after so I can get an impression from that, it would help immensely. However, I'm not going to port someone else's views to Lyrebird or clone something 1 for 1. It'll be my version of whatever it is.

Also throughout development of skins and modding over the years I have made quite a lot of views which don't get added to any public distributions because they are "purpose built" for displaying a presumed amount of assets in a very particular way, no view options exist for these, they function only one way but what ever it does, it does well. I was considering adding them into Lyrebird and keeping them locked behind an option toggle (something like 'Show Unsupported Views') and would add in other requested / custom views in a similar fashion.

Is it possible/feasible to implement this kind of thumbnails/views? Most game providers/scrappers scrap video previews

@tvsht

What kind are these? Just some sort of mp4 / mkv file? Easy enough to make something like that. Would need to get resources to make a similar setup, I'm guessing some sort of video snaps from Emumovies?

@Rufoo  They're pulled from screenscraper.fr either by AEL or Skraper/Skyscraper externally [into "video" subfolder, named exactly as ROM.mp4], just small mp4 files around 2-3 MB, CRT overlay makes them look better

I don't actually scrap fanart but screencaps, they're used instead, usually from the same video and it blends seamlessly when video kicks in.

Let me know if I can help in any way

Bit of an update for people:

Recently there has been a far bit of tragedies and passing away of family members and thusly haven't had time for Lyrebird at present. As there are a lot of affairs and logistics to sort out, until this is done I can't really dedicate the time toward Lyrebird. Project is not dead by any means but serious realities take priority over skinning for Kodi.

You can anticipate something before year end though. Maybe an Xmas present. I'll be more active and provide more work once these life issues are attended to.

Thanks for people's patience and understanding.

@Rufoo Sorry to hear about your losses. Wising your family and yourself peace/comfort during these hard times. Take some time to do what you need. I look forward to whenever you can release the new update and that would make a pretty nice Christmas present like you said. Smile

In case anyone is interested, I created a proper repo to host my fork (skin.lyrebird.rmod, and some other plugins).  https://github.com/randallspicher/randal...-1.0.0.zip  Note the version number was not quite correctly formed, so I had to adjust it a bit.  That may mean you'd need to uninstall the manually installed version before it will show the updates from the repo.

Note, some people may have noticed that the artist-slideshow stopped working (with a message to tell the skin developer to update the skin).
I updated lyrebird.rmod to accommodate, so the slideshow is fixed there.

@Rufoo Just checking in to see how changes/updates are going and if you'd be releasing anything at all? Wasn't sure if you had any free-time yet or had already done some stuff to it. Thanks and hope all is well. Hope you don't mind me posting again asking about it. Just hoping we could get some sort of word back from you. Smile

This is essentially Mimic, running on Kodi 18 but also includes a few new views for use with Advanced Emulator Launcher and some minor aesthetic changes in these views (namely the topbar). The current release allows a preview of two of the new views. Eventually will branch out into a skin that merges Mimic and Cirrus Extended. But for now, it is a humble MOD for Mimic. A great skin by Braz which I'm looking forward to messing with. Wink

Game views currently support Advanced Emulator Launcher. Support for RetroPlayer and IAGL coming soon.
