I'm just trying to take it in a good mood.
Unraring did at start seem to help but the jerkiness was introduced a bit later.
I changed to triple buffering instead of double and pausing the video for 2+ seconds seem to make everything run smooth.
My delay refresh rate change is 0 since i had issue with it staying on 60hz with a delay of 2, it does however take Kodi 4-6 seconds to switch to HDR, maybe this is cause?
Tried Estuary and it did not affect anything noticeable.

I don't understand why it says 1920x1080 that is my other monitor, my TV which kodi is running in fullscreen is running 4k at all times hm.

I'm sorry it's worth 0/10, anything else you want me to do?

Looking for a little help. I have a windows 10 machine with a GTX 1650 go... it goes to a Sony x900f TV. Following the recommended settings I am not seeing the TV display HDR. It does say it’s playing 4K just not HDR. Is there anything else that needs to be tweaked in order to make this happen? Thank you for tour suggestions!

@TearDrop1319 :

Assuming that you use two screens (the main one of the PC and a TV) in Windows settings you should have something similar to this:

1 = PC screen
2 = TV

Image

Windows HDR switch can be enabled or disabled but needs to be present  (Windows detects that display is HDR capable).

If HDR switch is not present then Kodi cannot HDR passthrough.

In Kodi "Settings > System > Display"  chose  "Monitor #2"  (same number assigned to TV in Windows display settings) and full screen mode.

(2020-09-11, 18:47)snyft Wrote: Edit: Think i found the issue. I got Spline36 Optimized as default video scaling. It shows as off on HDR movies but i made auto default on all and it seems to have fixed it.
The cpu was always at 17% though. Adding GPU usage in overlay would be a good thing in the future.

Two things to keep in mind:
  • Scaling is NOT used in 4K playback on 4K display (because it is already 4K)
  • Scaling probably is not used in 1080p source if whitelist is empty and Switch display refresh rate On start/stop is used because Kodi switch display mode to 1080p @ 24 and TV scales to 4K (not Kodi)
If you want to use Kodi internal HQ scaling (that is a good chose) then use whitelist with only 3840x2160 modes picked.

from your log:
2020-09-11 18:36:25.573 T:16640 DEBUG <general>: Whitelist is empty using default one

Thanks for the reply! I am only using the TV as the display. I have tried with both the windows HDR switch on and off... same results. Are there any settings that need to be made to the graphics card to make this work?

Not especially. NVIDIA driver install with default/clean install settings is OK. And Kodi settings of first post.

Post debug log => Enable debug in Settings > System > Logging and play HDR file. Then paste Kodi log to https://paste.kodi.tv/ and copy link here.

I have been trying to paste the log file into the site provided but it wont let me save it. Keeps saying something went wrong. I think the file may be too large. Any other way i can upload it or try and make the log smaller?

Are you using an HDMI suitable for 4k to connect PC - TV?

Yes. The cables being used are rates for 4K and 48gbs

It seems to be all correct. The large size of the log is due to the "Enable component specific -logging" option activated. It is not necessary unless you need to see something very specific.

Everything about hardware HDR works OK:

Code:

The only thing I see is that the video source not has "Content Light Level Metadata":

So it's bad material to test as it is poor quality HDR (probably not filmed with HDR in mind and added later).

Try another higher quality source or an specific HDR demo from here: https://4kmedia.org/

Thank you for the update! I tried a few more movies with no success. I also tried the Samsung movie from the link you posted. My TV detects it as 4K just does not say HDR. I have made sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to enhanced. Not sure if there are any other settings I may need to do on the Sony x900f in order for it to detect HDR. Thanks again for the help it’s much appreciated.

If you connect the TV through an AVR try a direct PC -- TV HDMI connection. I can't think of any more advice since everything is correct in the log (the part that is shown).

However, it would help to have a full debug log: disable component specific logging option and upload entire debug log.
