03-04 SVN rev18221 - Issues
#16
I'll give 2 indicators startup memory - and when I abuse xbmc
Home: free memory: 29000 - 12000
Movies library: free memory: 18000 - 8000
Free memory must be more than 11000 otherwise files won't play.
Here comes the trick if you did abuse xbmc (for example:fast zapping) and memory is to low to start file.
Go back to menu with menu button and push "ok" your back where you were and memory free gone up.

Edit:
Third indicator : normal use
Home : 23000
Movie library : 14000-15000
#17
I'm using rev 18272 with no problems AFTER i rebuild my library.

Did you tried installing on a diff folder and start from scratch?

EDIT: i was using a less intensive ram skin (vision2).

  • Intel NUC Kit DN2820FYKH ~ Crucial DDR3L SO-DIMM 4GB ~ SanDisk ReadyCache 32GB SSD ~ Microsoft MCE model 1039 RC6 remote
#18
Did install in different folder (do this always) and start from scratch because like I said used clean (default) userdata. (Talking about mediastream won't run properly).
#19
Do you have you thumbs set to 512?

Again, default userdata.
So, no library, no custom keymap, no advanced settings, only build with MediaStream 1.0 that works fine in build 25/1.

Edit:
Did look to what is happening with free memory.
First off all starts great 40000 but Weatherfanart won't load, if I do weather check I'll get the fanart and memory is still ok.
But when I go up or down in Home screen my memory keeps dropping and stops around 160 Huh

Installing Fresh mediastream skin now.
And This one gives me Weather screen and that's it. memory 156 free.

Rev 18316 my FTP has stops working after a while watched the strangers to see if it would exit out it never but now i cant connect through FTP it will probably works after a restarts but that's not the point it shouldn't stop working

also after a film has finished the fanart takes an age to show its self once it does its fine but not sure what's going on don't get this is Rev 16903.

ok there is no log as now it doesn't seem to rename it to XBMC.old this is what i get after the restart

so no debug as FTP stops working after a while and no debug log after a restart as its not saving it.

Code:

ok this has only happened once but could this be because the FTP stopped working as now its saving the XBMC.Old.log will try again :|

also does the screenshot work for any one else as its stopped working for me.

what ftp client are you using?

here filezilla sometimes has problem and hangs the connection (very old issue here not only with xbmc/xbox) , all fine with other ftp clients

Flashfxp always used this never had problems with it.

as i said its only happened once and it buggered up my log so am having to do this all again lol but no film exit yet and the fanart thing doesn't show anything in the log it just takes about 10,15 seconds to load up after a film or if i exit a film.

Here is a log this is for the fanart taking so long to load

Saying "don't use mediastream" is BS because it worked great from 1/25 and before but now it doesn't and somehow thats the skins fault? SOMETHING changed in the underlying code of XBMC that broke things on the XBOX. Instead of blaming others why not look into what changed?
Is the change really necessary on XBOX builds? Or was it something for the Linux/Windows/mac OS?
Was the change intentional or was it a mistake that only seems to affect XBOX users?
These are productive lines of questions... Blaming the skin is not productive in this instance because it worked FINE before.

I would like to thank those of you who took the time and effort to post logs on this issue. I did not because the XBOX is in use in my home almost constantly so as soon as the issues pooped up again (2nd build with these issues) I reverted back as quickly as possible and have not had time to fiddle with it. Hopefully those logs help those of you devs and code jockeys who are willing to look into this issue for us.

Thanks, cold realms for the post . Was beginning to think that I only had this problem.

This was also on my mind.

Btw did some more tests and all with same result memory, get lost very quick.

Please provide some more memory statistics when using the older XBMC and the last one. I'm wondering what the differences are....

rev 18272 - MS Lite - 5-7 MB free RAM in media preview (fanart off)
rev 16762 - MS Lite - 15-18MB free RAM in media preview (fanart off)

Home Screen - 18 MB (rev 18272) vs 25 MB (rev 16762) of free RAM

Had to build libraries from scratch cause older libs won't work in newer builds and vice versa.

Thanks. Yes, the difference is quite obvious. I think it has to do with the recent changes in our GUILib. Please create a Trac bugreport about the issue (with ALL available info from this thread)....

Same here like I posted but mine will even drop lower.
Screenshot build 25/1

Screenshot build 04/03 I can't make it memory to low !
Memory free is 192 KB.
