I have a pi3 as well as a few windows based machines. When I first used the Pi I was wondering what setting I had wrong, because it seemed to be more like a sbs or tab rather than a full resolution. Turns out that's just how the Pi displays it. You should definitely see a vast improvement with afrdchin's build.

Huh? I do see a clear difference between sbs/tab and mvc on the Rpi. There is an option in libreelec where 3d TV detection can be forced. I needed to enable that option.
The only reason for me to move to Intel is: no hd audio pass through & banding.

The files aren't sbs or tab. They're full 1080p frame packed 3D MVC files, but the Pi displays them at the same resolution as a tab file. Diagonal lines become jaggy, especially when watching something like tron legacy with all its neon style lighting.

Well I managed to set up my NUC with projector and I have to say I can see what MrBfJohn is alluding to. I'd only ever used the Pi3 before so had nothing to compare to. My Pi3 is definitely outputting full MVC but the NUC picture is a step up. Finer details are clearer and picture sharper. Example of Jurassic world when the velociraptor is being fed and his head comes out of the screen. Picture is fine on the Pi, but on the NUC the dinosaur looks like he's just been to the dentist. Teeth have a deeper white and in more detail :-)
Didn't notice any jerkiness on playback once sync playback to display was enabled.
One issue I do have though is that no matter whether I connect the NUC to my TV or BenQ projector I get no compressed encoded formats found, not even AC3 or DTS. I have all latest drivers so don't understand what the issue could be...

Perhaps I do have an incorrect setting then. On mine the Pi is definitely a lower resolution when playing the same file. I only stopped looking for a fix when I found a post on this forum saying this was a limitation of the Pi hardware. I demoted it to a room with a none 3D TV and started using Intel NUC's instead.

There are no such Display modes such as 23.976, 29.97 and 59.94Hz coded in AMLogic.
AMLogic Frame Rate Automation normally takes care of adjusting the 24, 30, 60Hz refresh rate clocks downstream for smooth 23.976, 29.97 and 59.94fps video playback.
