Quote:Also I just added an option to disable the vignette effect on the background.
Skin Settings > Colors > Display background color overlay (OFF)
Skin Settings > Colors > Display background vignette effect (OFF)
You have to turn the color overlay off first to access the vignette effect option.
That should take you back to the old setup.

Thanks for adding this option!

No problem.

I ended up adding all the background effects to their own category. So now they are under "Effects" in skin settings.
Think this makes more sense because you can change transparency, blur, background colour, vignette all from the one place.

Wow. Thanks man. This is awesome. Works perfectly now

If it doesnt stress u too much ive another question. I had some issues with my libary which i couldnt get to work, so i switched back to estuary seeing if it was the same there (it was of course... Lol). Anways- there in the libary i had the option to order the Videos in my libary in boxsets. In the horizon widget i can sort them also. You wrote default, rating, lastplayed etc. Ive seen that lastused works also. So is there an option to sort them in boxsets? If so- what do i have to write. Or better- is there somewhere a post where i can see all other options? Total noob here, so i hope you understand what i mean.

Oh- do have a patreon or stuff like this? Some form where people can support u?

I don't have a Patreon, but there is a paypal donation link on the first post.

Here is a list of sorting methods. Some only work for certain types of content:
http://kodi.wiki/view/List_of_built-in_f...rt_methods

You can't sort by sets, but you can add a widget (or menu item) that *only* shows movie sets.
Choose the following for the widget:
Video Library > Movies > Sets > Use as widget.

You can also group movies into sets in your library:
Settings > Media > Videos > Show movie sets

Thanks again. So much left to learn. Worked like a charm (widget).

Doesnt work in the libary though (have only 4 sorting options: name, size, date, file).

I dont know if its a big request (somehow have the feeling it will be), but would it be possible to have the icon mode only for your main menu?

In other words- that when im in the settings or at the installer parts of the skin, id see the normal menu? I always have to walk to the screen to read where exactly im at right now.

Id understand if thats way to much work. Since icon mode isnt the default anyways etc.

Yeah having an option where the menu only opens some of the time adds a lot of complexity to the conditions for my animations. But more importantly, it's not so much that it is overly difficult to add, but more that I'm pretty wary of adding a million little options for every single little tweak. I don't want the skin settings to become a maze of options -- there are already way more options in there than I would like.

No problem. I had meant to include an option, but had forgot. I'm glad you pointed it out because I had enough time to update my PR for the official repo so that it will make it into the official release.

ive found a little bug: sometimes the old widget data is left in the widget editor even though the skin displays the correct new one.

for example :

i set widget a to libary videos, add a color to its name, set it to landscape, rating, ascending and it gets displayed this way.

i then look at it and decide id rather have the tv show libary in that place.

i go into settings, set the widget to tv shows, poster, default and take a look at the skin.

i see ive forgetten to add a color to the text and want to change it but insteadt of the correct tv show widget the editor shows me the older movie widget.

some of em stick even after rebooting. the skin shows the correct one- just the editor doesnt.

have u seen this before?

(its a non issue for me, but i thought i let u know anyways). maybe its my device tho. idk

@Joe23rep - Yeah I have noticed this before. Unfortunately, not a lot I can do about it. The label properties and so on on in the customisation dialog are supplied by the SkinShortcuts add-on and SkinHelper handles the editing of the widget label, so it is whatever those add-ons return that is displayed. As long as it is working properly in the home screen I'm not that fussed by it -- the skinshortcuts add-on authors are pretty busy at the moment, so its not something that I really want to bug them with (also, I'm fairly sure they are aware of it -- it is just a matter of limited time meaning that certain bugs and features get prioritised over others).

jurialmunkey,

I don't use this option, but I can barely see a difference in "make top bar transparent"

The place where it is most noticeable is on the home screen - when you scroll down the widgets you will be able to see the widgets underneath the bar. With all the background effects turned off (colour overlay, vignette, blur) the transparency is quite noticeable in the library. Also, when it is disabled, the background fanart is shifted down so that it isn't obscured by the top bar - so turning it on changes the background dimensions to be fullscreen.

The eq bars shouldn't show when paused - if paused it should show a paused icon, and if caching it shows a busy indicator. Are you sure you are paused and it isn't something else happening?
I know about the flicker of the highlight. Haven't figured out a way to fix it yet.
I went back to check and sure enough the pause icon appears! I swear I had a song paused and the eq was still moving until I unpaused it minutes later. I can't reproduce it now but if it does happen I'll pay more attention to what the circumstances were... Also, the highlight flicker appears to have disappeared too - without even pulling the latest version, weird.

I use a button on my remote mapped to SetFocus(300) which will open the side menu in any window including the home window (300 is the id for the sidemenu).

Having larger square widgets messes up the alignment -- either the items have to not be truly square and slightly too wide; the spacing between the square items will be much bigger; they wont align properly on the right side of the screen; or they will have a different height to all the other widgets and mess up the vertical alignment. All are things I want to avoid so unfortunately it isn't really a possibility. It is something I've wanted to do, but I can't see any solution that I find satisfactory.

I've been meaning to add a larger icons view for albums, but just haven't got around to it yet.

Lovefilm has been added to artists (forgot to add it there, so I'm glad you pointed that out!)

Fixed widget text scrolling.
Ah, "back" works perfectly. Thanks for pointing that out.
Shame about the square widget alignment. Is it a technical thing with how Kodi displays them or simply a visual preference? I agree a row of squares above a row of posters would look odd but if the only place I wanted them was for music with two rows of large square widgets, could it work?
Thank you for the Lovefilm view for artists.

Next up only opens if the container content is tvshows or seasons -- if the content is episodes it doesn't show. I made it this way because I assume once you are at the episode level you are already making a choice about what to watch, and so probably want to see cast details instead if pressing info.

It is intended to have back from nextup to return to the cast.
Next up will show your next available unwatched episode. If everything has been watched, it will show you the *least* watched episode.

You can always disable the nextup info in
Skin Settings > Miscellaneous > Display next up episodes instead of cast in tvshow info dialog
Good point on the episode/show distinction. I think this is likely to be an issue with the NextUp plugin itself but what I get are the episodes I've already watched in descending order, even when there are unwatched episodes.

Finally, I've noticed a quirk where exiting the screensaver back to home the widgets are pushed right as if the sideblade is open but it's closed.

1. It is to do with ratios. I need all widgets to have the same height so that when mouse/touch support is enabled, the two widgets fit properly on the screen and are in the same place. With a square widget, the width has to be the same as the height. The posters are 333px high and 222px wide (3:2 ratio). There is 20px padding between items. With 7 posters that is 1694px width space ((222 + 20) * 7). Square widgets would be 333px wide plus 20px padding, so ~4.78 items fit in that space (1694 / (333 + 20)). So if we have five square items the width of each will be 318.8px. But that means we have to reduce vertical height by 15px which we can't do -- and 15px is not enough space to use for something else like a label underneath. So we end up with a slightly rectangular widget. If we go with 4 items instead, we end up with 90.5px of horizontal padding which is insanely huge.

2. Nextup in the info dialog doesn't use any plugins. It is just a container that shows all episodes in the library for that particular show dbid. The container is sorted by playcount. Unwatched episodes have a playcount of 0 so they show first (and when there are multiple items, the fallback sort order is by episode number so that earlier episodes show first). Unless there is something wrong with the playcount in your db, it should work.

3. Yeah I'm not quite sure what can be done about this. There is a hidden button that gets focus when returning to the home screen. When it gets focus it sets the focus to either the home menu or the widgets depending on where you were previously (so that if you click into a widget, pressing back will take you back to the widget rather than onto the menu a vice versa). For some reason, when coming out of the screensaver, the onfocus condition of the button doesn't trigger, so the focus is stuck in limbo so to speak. The animation gets stuck in an inbetween state because it is conditional on whether the home menu or the widgets are focused.
