Kodi Matrix crash: .nfo files with special characters (split from Aeon MQ 7)

Scrape your music libary by using an online scraper (Universal Album, Universal Artist). If there are .nfo.files in your music folder, Kodi will use those .nfo.files first. When there is no .nfo.file, Kodi will retrieve the information from online services.

Ok ill do that, but is there a way to get the scraped info from kodi to nfo files? Also i looked in the nfo files, but they seem normal, just like other nfo files.

When you're finished you can export your library data to .nfo files. Kodi is able to do so.

Check if the text in the .nfo file contains a character like é, ë, è, ú, ü ,ù etc. That is probably causing your issues with Matrix. When you use a Media Manager like Media Companion, you'll notice that these special characters are replaced/converted by weird looking characters. But those weird looking characters work.

Example: Sinéad O'conner causes Matrix to crash. It has an é in the artist name.
Sin-|ead O'conner works.

Ok nice, but so, in theory, i could set scraping to online for all music, and then export the library to individual files. Would my old nfo's be overwritten?
I started years ago with the local nfo files, because lots of them where not scraped or unknown by the kodi scraper... bakc then.

You'll receive a pop up message. Files will only be overwritten if you give permisson.

@latts9923  Very nice job you did for the skin. Aeon MQ 7 and MQ8 Matrix MODS look awesome. Thanks for all your cool stuff and work :-) I'm loving the skins man.

I noticed we're are both Dutch. I'm quite surprised that we're the only two persons so far that ran into this nasty database issue in Matrix. The BLOB values don't cause any stability issues in Leia.

Maybe we are the only two people, that have more then 10 artists in our library ?

Im trying to search google, how kodi can re search all my album info. But dont seem to find info until now. I just keep opening the artist and then do search info for all albums. But as i have 400+ artists, this is going to take a while. My thought is to get all info from online and then export it and overwrite all the nfo local.

I'm sure you are not the only two. But since this is not a skin specific issue but rather a Kodi bug the discussion is likely, and more properly, taking place in a Kodi support thread as apposed to this skin support thread. I respectfully suggest you report your bug there as it is more likely to be seen and therefor addressed by the developers there. That way it can be fixed in a later version.

You are definitively right and i sincerely apologise for bringing it up here in the thread of this great skin.
I will search for the correct thread in the forest of all the threads on this forum. You are right !  My mistake, sorry :-(

@MB1968  Thanks for all the help.
@latts9923  Thanks for the modded skin.

I agree. @latts9923, my apologies.

Maybe it's wise to call in a moderator to move all off topic messages, to a new thread: "Kodi Matrix crashes after importing .nfo files containing special characters".

If someone could make a list of which posts in this thread need splitting off, we can do it.
