I will suggest keeping your NUC 5th get for now and look into one of those Android devices for 4K HDR, the Kaby Lake NUC will playback 4K files but HDR metadata doesn't work.

Also for the Android devices, I haven't found a good one yet they all got some issues.

Well maybe the same magic done for MVC support by the creator of the Kodi fork, can be done for HDR.
