Release Aeon Nox: SiLVO

I got the video-addon widget to change faster. Is there a way to put that list in alphabetical order. In the normal add-ons section, everything is in alphabetical order. But the video-addon widget isn't. Wanted to see if I could change that.

Thanks again for your help. Awesome skin

Can only be changed if you're (a) using Jarvis/K* and (b) happy editing one of the skin files - ./shortcuts/template.xml

Two changes are needed, in whichever of the four templates corresponds to the widget you're using (widget 1 or 2, list or panel) (or in all 4 templates if you want to be safe). At the start of each template you'll see a load of <property /> elements - add

Code:
<property name="sortby" tag="property" attribute="name|widget" value="addon">label</property>

to them. (This sets the property 'sortby' to the value 'label' if the widget is an addon - so this will affect all addons!)

Then at the end of each template there's the line

Code:
<content target="$SKINSHORTCUTS[target]">$SKINSHORTCUTS[content]</content>

Change it to:-

Code:
<content target="$SKINSHORTCUTS[target]" sortby="$SKINSHORTCUTS[sortby]">$SKINSHORTCUTS[content]</content>

and all add-ons in that widget will now be sorted alphabetically.

I have updated my repo to contain both Isengard and Jarvis skin versions. The repo needs to be updated before the skins are available.

Please let me know if you have any issues.

Happy Holidays!
Thank you very much Mike.

Hi Mike,

I'm sure the highlight bar used to match the color exactly in the color picker without the dark part in the middle. This is now over ridden by what ever you chose in the Theme. So if select Skin Defualt the highlight bar shows up as green, the below screenshot is set to orange. Yellow is closer to the colour i'd like.

If I chose a custom color hex (fff0a510) it shows up as what ever the color is set to in Theme.

Weather for my location (Linton on Ouse (GB) ) only ever has 5 days of forecast rather than 6. As such, the last item always has no image and temperatures of 0C. Would it be possible to detect if this is the case, hide the last item and (ideally) align the others more centrally?
Can you use the openweathermap extended weather addon? It seems to show more than 5 days. It shows up as York but you can alter the display name in the addons settings.

Are you using an older skin version? I just checked and the latest has the new Highlight Bar image but your pic shows the old one Huh

@mike

The ExtendedInfo panels were already redundant in many ways, but still offer different content. You might as well use them as is if you don't care about them as they are already coded to match DialogVideoInfo. The actor dialog is still needed -- and clicking on any item in the actor dialog opens the video info dialog. So it is unavoidable. The same can be said for any clickable ExtendedInfo poster on a widget.

The Skin Helper additions were unknown to me. I would move Budget and Revenue to the top of the list, as I think they look best there.

To test, put a bunch of ExtendedInfo panels on your home screen. Eventually, several will fail to populate until you restart Kodi.

@Warner306: Yes, exactly! Sadly, from what you said, it seems that there won't be a chance for a fix until a new extended info update? Did you happen to determine the trigger for the bug?

On another matter, you seem to know your way around a skin, so let me ask you something that's been bugging me. Where does Nox 5/Silvo store fanart, and is there a way of making it use extrafanart folders? I've noticed that Madnox and Silvo give me different backgrounds, and for some shows I have crap images in Silvo that I can't find a way to replace. The same goes for music backgrounds and folder icons, where I've set up most of my stuff manually, and it just won't display in Nox, even though they are regular fanart.jpg and folder.jpg files...

Any help would be much appreciated! Wink

There are two types of backgrounds: those for library items and those for the skin itself.

Fanart for library items is stored in the cache to ensure it is loaded once and only once. The actual artwork item is stored in the video database files. This is independent of the skin. The only way the backgrounds would change for a given item is if extrafanart is enabled. Then, the images could vary based on the implementation of extrafanart. This skin uses the Toolbox Script, for example. You can back-up the video library to save these custom selections and transfer them to new installations of Kodi because, in most cases, Kodi will have to recreate the library and the custom selection will be lost when the item is re-scraped. But, your current installation should preserve these selections unless the item is refreshed.

As for skin backgrounds, these are also loaded from the cache. But the selection is stored in userdata -> addon_data within the settings.xml for the skin. This includes the path to the item on your computer. So the original file is stored on a computer or external drive. I don't think you can copy these backgrounds from skin to skin because they are stored in each skin's settings.xml as a path to the image.

This is a long way of saying any custom backgrounds you add must be stored in a location accessible by Kodi. Default skin backgrounds would be stored somewhere in the skin's media folder.

I'm using the latest from git I downloaded last night. Installed 2.0.9 then overwrote all files with those from git.

If you do it that way there are bound to be issues. The Textures.xbt file in 2.0.9 is most likely overriding the changes to the images I have made...
