To test, put a bunch of ExtendedInfo panels on your home screen. Eventually, several will fail to populate until you restart Kodi.
@Warner306: Yes, exactly! Sadly, from what you said, it seems that there won't be a chance for a fix until a new extended info update? Did you happen to determine the trigger for the bug?
On another matter, you seem to know your way around a skin, so let me ask you something that's been bugging me. Where does Nox 5/Silvo store fanart, and is there a way of making it use extrafanart folders? I've noticed that Madnox and Silvo give me different backgrounds, and for some shows I have crap images in Silvo that I can't find a way to replace. The same goes for music backgrounds and folder icons, where I've set up most of my stuff manually, and it just won't display in Nox, even though they are regular fanart.jpg and folder.jpg files...
Any help would be much appreciated!
There are two types of backgrounds: those for library items and those for the skin itself.
Fanart for library items is stored in the cache to ensure it is loaded once and only once. The actual artwork item is stored in the video database files. This is independent of the skin. The only way the backgrounds would change for a given item is if extrafanart is enabled. Then, the images could vary based on the implementation of extrafanart. This skin uses the Toolbox Script, for example. You can back-up the video library to save these custom selections and transfer them to new installations of Kodi because, in most cases, Kodi will have to recreate the library and the custom selection will be lost when the item is re-scraped. But, your current installation should preserve these selections unless the item is refreshed.
As for skin backgrounds, these are also loaded from the cache. But the selection is stored in
userdata -> addon_data within the
settings.xml for the skin. This includes the path to the item on your computer. So the original file is stored on a computer or external drive. I don't think you can copy these backgrounds from skin to skin because they are stored in each skin's settings.xml as a path to the image.
This is a long way of saying any custom backgrounds you add must be stored in a location accessible by Kodi. Default skin backgrounds would be stored somewhere in the skin's
media folder.
