Sorry for the basic question but can someone explain the candy cane font color options. I just want the candy cane font to be in the typical red and white candy cane colors and can't seem to figure it out...LOL.

@wags1
I have my main font color set to red, and the candy cane background color set to white. That should be all you need to do. You'll see in the preview window at the bottom how it will look.

@latts9923 Thanks, that did it. Don’t know why I found that so hard to figure out…🤦‍♂️

Quick question for everyone do you guys like Mq 9 better than Mq 8 ? I like the look and feel of MQ 8 But wondering 🤔 if i shoud switch ..

I'm glad the candy cane font thing was brought up because I was experiencing a similar thing... Am i correct in thinking that the focused menu item should be both red and white? I can only ever get 1 color to show, not both. Do I have the settings below correct?  The "Show the candy cane font background" does not seem to toggle anything in my case...

*update* ok nvm, It seems it does not update on that menu screen but on the actual main menu it updates, It's working so, All good.

Admittedly, I was pretty comfortable with the way MQ8 worked and functioned in virtually all aspects. I began running into stability issues and decided to rebuild from scratch... I figured that was a good opportunity to move to MQ9 if i had to rebuild. I find myself requesting a lot of the same features that MQ8 had to be implemented in MQ9. It really speaks to how much i enjoyed MQ8 or was just used to the way that MQ8 functioned...haven't fully decided which is true, yet. My wife says she prefers the MQ8 version, but will get used to using MQ9. The center menu option of MQ9 is nice for a different feel but you will sacrifice seeing a 5 day forecast for a current day forecast (If that's important to you). I have run into some unexpected issues with addon's using kodi v 20.2 with library node editor and TVtunes.

That said, I only find 1 fatal flaw with the base build of MQ9... I absolutely do not like the vertical menu (or lack of). In mq8 was able to keep the main menu clean and select the 'down' arrow to view recently added movies, genres, sets, etc. Along with their poster art. This way i didn't have to put widgets on the main menu screen. MQ9 does not allow for this because of the way it is designed (is my understanding).
Another minor thing is that I have not yet been able to find a way to add sub-video-addon menu items to the submenu...only the video add-on item itself am i able to add. I can work around this by adding the sub-video addon menu item as a favorite, but I was able to do this directly in previous versions; Again a minor thing.

Hopefully that answers enough; There is much good about the MQ9 version, but again, I find i keep requesting all the things i liked about MQ8. At this time, I think MQ8 would still have my preference if not for my stability issues, but Mq9 is getting there.

A handful of the main menus were not displaying the candy cane font correctly in the preview window. It's fixed and will be in the next update. Thanks for letting me know!

All mine labelled animatedposter show just fine. Was sure glad lol

edit: should add i do have mine in the movie directory. im on movie 900 and something sorting all my art and so wish i did it from day dot lol
Thanks - that's awesome. Can you tell me more about your process? How do you select, save, then "save as" into Kodi Movie folders? Any special tips for an efficient process?

1. I don't believe there is a button to disable the Smart Submenu. I can look at adding one though.
2. @wags1 covered this one a few posts above.
3. I don't see a way to add "in progress" to the submenu either. I'll have to look into that one.
4. Unless someone has a better way, that's how I'm still adding my animated artwork.

I appreciate you researching "in progress" to TV submenu. If you weren't aware, I haven't seen a skin that didn't have it - perhaps you have re-written a lot of that code.

As mine had all been moved into the movie directorys by the time i decided to sort them i just searched each drive for .gif and rename and pasted. Probably faster ways but they all show in one place and im quite nippy with that.
Any new ones i just save to the relevant movie directory and name it correctly so its easier going forward.

Thanks for the insight 👍 im the same way really like the MQ8 style and not sure i want to give it up ..

HI, Thanks again for the work you put into this skin. I love it, but I cannot for the life of me find a way to set the DVD case in view 18 to any other view.  would b nice to have a few more
options in the genre view as well, as I like to use that.
