i think Ubuntu 18.04 only ships with python 3.6....

I can install Python 3.10 as an addon but then it must me launched directly, like this:
[~] # /opt/python3/bin/python3
Python 3.10.4 (main, May  6 2022, 08:22:01) [GCC 5.4.0 20160609] on linux
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

I managed to install Python 3.11 in the system (using Entware)
[~] # python
Python 3.11.3 (main, Jun  2 2023, 13:56:39) [GCC 8.4.0] on linux

but I still get the same error, any advise?
Thank you,
Alex
you would probably need an older version of beautifulsoup4 as well, as it depends on soupsieve.
not sure if you can rollback from within kodi, both modules should be listed under 'recently updated addons'.
from there, hit the info button and select 'versions', if there's an older version listed, that would be the preferable way to downgrade those addons.

if you want to do it manually, you can get the older versions from the addon repo:
http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/nexus/scri...soupsieve/
http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/nexus/scri...ifulsoup4/

The previous versions weren't available so I used your links, thank you very much!

Same here, let's see if a new version of HD STation will be released, even if this worries me: every time QNAP has released a new version something broke KODI on HD Station
(2023-06-03, 00:23)ArtVandalay7 Wrote: [ -> ]Was wondering why “select alternate lyrics” absolutely never works-I just get a hyphen. No matter which alternate source I select. Any way to fix this?

I still come across instances where selecting different lyrics just displays the same lyrics (likely due to the same file being hosted at different sources or people just copy-paste the same content under different usernames), however rarely is the case that I get nothing. I also only use the synchronized sources and only the ones that pass the scraper test (currently that means Lyriscify is not selected). My main source for lyrics is local files that are pulled using the addon, but it will only fall back to those synchronized sources. Sometimes people seem to push lrc files without tags in them to make them an actual lrc and instead it's just a txt with an lrc extension appended. I have much greater success now and my music collection that even has vocals to it is quite niche to begin with.

Try your luck at only using ONLY the synchronized sources that pass the scraper test. If you still run into the same issue with your most popular song with lyrics written for it, at that point I yield to those with knowledge to debug your log unfortunately. Before we resort to condemning the addon/kodi, please give the options suggested a try, and see if you can't get a different result. Also worth noting—if you weren't aware of this—is the ability to manually scroll both text and synchronized lyrics files. I believe both PAGE UP/DOWN as well as ARROW UP/DOWN will do so by default.
i have an updated version available for testing: script.cu.lrclyrics-6.6.0.zip

changes:
- i've fixed a few broken scrapers
- removed a couple of unfixable scrapers
- added some new lrc based scrapers

i've you're willing to take it for a spin, please let me know if you encounter any issues.
I've been using it for a few days now and it seems to be working fine for me so far (though the Megalobiz scraper kept pulling in the wrong lyrics so I disabled it).
thanx for taking it to the test!
your observation about megalobiz is indeed quite accurate.
i'll add some code to make it more reliable.
