Since the topic is open again, does this mean Intel has solved the bug? Because that would be great! Smile
They are actively working on it. Chris Wilson is testing with a chubox chromebox and OpenELEC currently. He will continue with this howto tomorrow.
Nice Wink

Well, that's very good news indeed! Looking forward to it!
Crossing fingers - and toes - that a solution can found. fritsch - we continue to owe you and your colleagues huge amounts for your persistence and hard work on this topic.
In the latest build (from today) the shutdown menu has only Exit, all other selections are gone. Is this a general error or just something wrong with my system?
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/c70f...391fbef2e2 <- was this change. Needs some logind magic.

In short the polkit pkla needs adjustment.
Code:
[Re-enable powermanagement with logind]
Identity=unix-user:*
Action=org.freedesktop.upower.*;org.freedesktop.consolekit.system.*;org.freedesktop.udisks.*;org.freedesktop.login1.*
ResultActive=yes
ResultInactive=yes
ResultAny=yes

Using the latest fernet-menta master, my girlfriend experienced some issue with the picture freezing, and audio playing on.

The log got a lot of Vaapi warnings and some errors http://paste.ubuntu.com/9091060/
Any clue as to what is going on? Or should I just be patient and what for beta3 to be compiled and see if it goes away?
Intel's next gen skylake will have a HEVC decoder. It is already implemented in VAAPI and was just send to the Mailing list :-)

Do we profit from this ? or does it mean we will never get working vaapi ? Big Grin since this fail i wont buy an intel cpus for linux anymore Big Grin
vaapi is working on all chips, besides HSW Gen1 (Celeron 1820, 2995U, Pentium, ...) - but they are actively trying to fix it.

The rest I already told next gen.
oh so my htpc cpu g3420 is 1st gen :/ i tought my pentium was 2gen haswell Sad now i know Rofl so the easiest route for me would be to buy an Intel Core i3-4370 or Intel Pentium G3250 for example.but also the way with money -,- or wait for wilson to fix the damn thing.sorry for the questioning fritsch but i use it everday.the funny thing is also with the workaround to disable vaapi and use software i have gpuhangs (picture freezes audio continouse).again i appreciate your hard work ! will donate when i get fresh money Big Grin
