sudo cmd > file will run cmd as root and redirect sudo's output to file. You can't write to channels.conf as a regular user, so your command fails.

Try:
sudo sh -c "cmd > file"

not sure I get you there - I'm not trying to write to it as a regular user, there's already a sudo statement prefixing the command.
Hi.
Its pretty embarrassing to ask this question but I do it anyway.

Can't seem to find any tv in settings.

I have installed the application as described in post #1 and the PVR seems to run but when going into XBMC (PM3.HD skin) I cant find any references to any TV in settings.

I can see in the system info that im running XBMC 9.11 R26018 compiled may 4, is this the right one? I have removed the normal xbmc sources from the sources.list before reinstallation and have downloaded the PM3.HD skin from the synaptic package installer.

Can anyone see what im doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

XBMC PRE-10.5 r29790 Compiled may 7 2010 here ...
You must be doing something weird with the repos.

(@anastrophe: sudo runs as a normal user, only "cmd" is root. In sudo cmd > file the ">" redirects sudo's output to file, not "cmd" output ..)
Hello, I have a problem with tvheadend and a Hauppayge HVR-4000 multi frontend card.
In fact tvheadend find the /dev/adapter0 but only the frontend0, not the frontend1
frontend0 is for DVB-S/S2 and frontend1 is for DVB-T.
so I added a link to simulate another adapter (ln /dev/adapter0/frontend0 /dev/adapter1/frontend0) and I have the following error message:

[ALERT]:dvb: Unable to open /dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0 -- Device or resource busy

If I rename adapter0 to adapter1 and adapter1 to adapter0 my frontend DVB-T is recognized and the DVB-S one is busy !!!

Please could you help me.
Thanks.
jeepcook Wrote:[ALERT]:dvb: Unable to open /dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0 -- Device or resource busy

Thanks.

Can you post the output from "ps -A" - there might be something using it that we could spot.

Ok, it's alongshot, but try:

sudo kill -9

....with the pid from these (they may well have changed since you posted)

985 ? 00:00:00 cx88 tvaudio
4064 ? 00:00:00 cx88[0] dvb
3904 pts/0 00:00:00 tvheadend

Then try restarting the service. Like I say, it's a longshot and I don't really know that the first two are, but they could be using your card.

Hi,
Unable to kill cx88 tvaudio, as root I tried a kill -9 954, the process is still alive:
root 954 2 0 20:53 ? 00:00:00 [cx88 tvaudio]

the process cx88[0] dvb start whith tvheadend.
root 3779 2 0 21:51 ? 00:00:00 [cx88[0] dvb]

The parent's process is 2 ... a system process ??

So I already have the same issue.

Thanks for your help.

It seems that it's a known tvheadend issue:

I applied the patch and frontend1 busy .... I am disapointed ..
Which plugin would you recommend ??

I'm using streamdev (which actually works), but there is also VNSI which I didn't try.
VNSI is the best. It virtually changes channel straight way
Hi,

I wanted to point out that the pre-compiled experimental packages of the pvr-testing-branch that I offer in my PPA are now compiled with --enable-crystalhd and --enable-vaapi. [1]

Besides that, you guys might want to check out our yaVDR project which includes these XBMC packages. It should save you a lot of time when setting up VDR+XBMC+vnsi. yaVDR is a Ubuntu-based distro which is designed to turn a HTPC into a set-top-box: XBMC + HDTV + PVR. Something for the Asrock ION fans.

Cheers,
hepi

Thanx hepi for your great help to the community.Actually yavdr rocks.Anxiously waiting for yavdr 0.2 .version 1.1 works really great on my htpc.
i am also testing yavdr ppas for lucid lynx on my second testing htpc and its really stable and runs really smooth.i wish also to get sc running but no luck yet Sad
other than this its really great work and thanx again for your work
mushroom Wrote:i wish also to get sc running but no luck yet Sad

I have this plugin running fine, under lucid too.
Maybe I can help you, but this is a little bit off topic .. Is there a PM system on this forum ?

Auxbox: I'll give it a try then .. will report back.
Hepi: big thanks for the great job being done on these ppas.
