I guess the underlying problem of the message "Depends: vdr-abi-1.7.10-debian" is that there are two packages of vdr-plugin-vnsiserver in each PPA and they currently have exactly the same version name. We have one Karmic PPA for 1.7.10 and one Karmic PPA for 1.7.14. If you have both PPAs in your apt-sources, it seems that apt seems to priotize the 1.7.10 PPA. This problem would not occur if

a) you hadn't both PPAs (vdr-ubuntu-karmic + unstable-plugins) in your apt-sources or
b) we wouldn't use the same package version number for both packages (0.0.2+svn20100428-1yavdr1)

You could remove the PPA vdr-ubuntu-karmic or you could do apt-pinning to priotize the package version which is meant for 1.7.14.
Or you can manually download the deb and install it via dpkg -i vdr-plugin-vnsiserver.

Cheers,
hepi

Thanks a lot. I think I'll do a manual install. I need to have both the repositories, because the "unstable" one lacks some libraries like the xine2 (I still use the xine plugin as a backup when xbmc crashes)

i have the same problem.anyone succeed to compile it?
AuXBoX Wrote:what do you mean laggy video.
just change the video settings

who uses teletext anyway

The streamdev plugin has a green screen for a second everytime i change channel aswell

Thanks to Hepi, I managed to install the vnsi plugin.
I found an huge issue: there is no ac3 audio support.
Watching a channel with ac3 5.1 audio, I can only hear 2 tracks.
is anyone using the Hauppauge HVR2200 with vdr?
i've just put in this card for the dual tuners and now vdr will not auto start on boot.
I'm using VNSI aswell

I can get it working with a manual start via terminal.

i also noticed on the xbmc.log an error which i'll have to post later when im home
but i remember it saying this
device 1 has no MPEG decoder
How can i manual open a vdr stream in xbmc?
I can play a vdr stream in VLC just fine, but in XBMC it just open url as an empty folder…
ex: http://127.0.0.1:3000/TS/S5.0E-86-3-1110

EDIT: Found the solution (silly me): add the url to a text document and save it with .strm extension...

I might want to try stream with VNSI, but I do not know how (vnsi port nr?)

I am streaming to an Apple TV running ubuntu hardy and I don´t think the henningpingel XBMC is available on hardy. That is why I just want to stream it with a simple url

You can try this:
http://xbmc.picmania.org/
or switch to tvheadend instead of vdr

I've noticed the same issues, With streamdev everything works fine without dropping any frames, but after some channel switches it sometimes freezes so that I have to restart xbmc the hard way.

With VNSI, on the other hand, I have much faster switching times and not seen such freezes. But VNSI drops frames, at least on HD content. This is with the very same video settings I'm using with streamdev, so I think it's more related to a communication problem

AuXBoX Wrote:who uses teletext anyway

At least I do sometimes. It's not mission critical, but it is a nice to have for me.
With my problem i'm pretty sure my firmware for the tv tuner is being loaded after vdr starts.
I can restart vdr and then in xbmc turn off tv and the addon and then turn them back on and it will work.

Is there a way to get my firmware loaded quicker or delay vdr and xbmc loading
auxbox, please post your problem on http://www.vdr-portal.de. This seems to be an issue that occurs to some users, for example this user:

http://www.vdr-portal.de/board/thread.ph...adid=96907

A workaround is to delay the vdr start.

Thanks Hepi
Just posted there
Is there a way for vdr to encode in h.264
AuxBox; How are you loading VDR ?

If it loads through /etc/init.d then you could pre-pend the vdr init script with 99-

eg; /etc/init.d/vdr < changes to > /etc/init.d/99-vdr

This would make VDR run last, hopefully by which time your firmware has loaded for your tuner.

Edit, whoops just noticed Hepi has probably already answered this one.. if so ignore Smile
