What doesn't change anything. I checked the code and there is nothing major I've changed in the last 30 days

Edit:
I've added some visiblity conditions, which MAY increase the speed. But I don't think so.

(2016-02-11, 00:09)fach1708 Wrote: [ -> ]I think the point is most people with the fire tv box do not experience lag as it's a capable device normally.capable of handling most skins. I have even used previous versions of your skin and all of hitcher skins without issue.
What other skins allow up to 96 widgets on the home screen?
The Fire TV isn't a powerful device so it's going to struggle the more widgets you add.

Yes but I am not using 96, I'm using 3 per page! Your skin with 8 per page does.not struggle! This isn't a personal attack, I'm just reporting my experience and am not the only one, not to put anyone down, but to point out a potential issue.

Same issue here. Not using any widgets populated from within addons, just library widgets, and there is a noticeable lag on the home screen with my fire TV. The lag eventually disappears if you scroll up and down the widgets for a particular menu, but then is back again if you switch to a different menu. No lagging problems outside of the menu screen. I recently switched from Hitcher's version which didn't seem to have the same problem.
Do you have the Genres assigned as widgets?
That's the only thing, which can cause the stuttering in my opinion.

Possible reason:
- 4 square items
- 3 poster images for each square item
- Kodi renders them in a mask with transparent areas, which can cause a higher load while the items are moving.

If you have added your own posters without resizing, you'll have another possible speed penalty.
@sualfred firstly thanks for this great skin mod. I'm perhaps likely in a minority here as I'm running this skin via PleXBMC. so I'm resigned to posters etc (which is fine I can live with that).

having experimented recently with Emby as a sever (synced to Kodi) I noticed how smooth the transition is between entering a section from a widget. (hitting right curser)

This same transition from widget to media section when running PleXBMC has a slight lag... it's not as smooth, realise this may be totally out of your control due to PleXBMC being an addon. just wondered if you had any thoughts on improving the transition?

I'm running Mac OS X on a macmini, PLEX media server is also hosted on the same machine, so there should be know issues with power etc, I'm guessing maybe an image cache issue?

many thanks
Totally out of my control. This is caused by the delay of the addon. You will notice it with a lot of other addons, too.
thought as much, thanks for the quick reply... keep up the great work!
Fred, when I enter the next aired add-on, it just goes to a black screen, nothing happens. I can back out of it, it just a black screen though :/

The lag was visible before I added the genres widget.

Even on menus with all items of the same view type and no addons, the lag is very visible.
At this Point, thank you for fixing wide viewtype for addons!!!

Will try it later...

I gave up. I changed NOTHING major on this part in the last 30 days. For me it's smooth on my main gaming rig, on my laptop, on my office PC, on my HTPC and it also runs okay on my Pi2 with Openelec.

Uninstall your Kodi, clean your thumbnails/cache and try a fresh install. If this won't help, upgrade to an HTPC Wink

I have fresh installed, deleted thumbnails, textures13.db, reloaded thumbnails, reduced widget number....

I give up too.
To prove it to you:

This is my sleeping room Pi2 with the latest OpenElec nightly and the current skin version.
For sure, it isn't smooth as on my Windows devices, but I do not call it laggy as hell.

I believe you but I cannot say I have the same experience.
