Boy is your experience the exact opposite of mine, even when using your settings. None of my Movies are viewable because of horrible video stuttering, with VC1 and Dolby TrueHD/Atmos the worse. But I am using NFS for streaming, not SMB since I have not been able to get my Zidoo X9S connect with MacOs SMB shares (SMB sharing works with Intel NUC under windows, but fails on all Android based Media Players with "broken pipe" error). Are you streaming Movies through SMB? And why the HUGE difference in payback from one person to another?
At least my Q10 Pro has NONE of the problems with NFS playback (except for micro stutters in 3D iso files) that the Zidoo X9S has. On the off chance that my Zidoo X9S is defective, I will arrange for Amazon to replace the item and see if there is any difference in performance.

Could be, but my X9S had no problems recognizing or finding the NFS shares. But playback may be the issue. I did connect to my Mac using an SMB substitute (SMBup), and though I had less problems streaming, the video stuttering was still there in all lossless blu-ray rips (both in .ISO format (less of a problem) and .MKV format (more of a problem)). But when I switched to MacOS Sierra (10.12), SMBup was no longer compatible. And it is probably better to use the built in SMB or NFS.
Thus I decided to exchange my Zidoo X9S to see if this is a "hardware" problem or a "software" problem that can be fixed with future firmware releases (if they can reproduce the problem, or at least acknowledge that it exists).

Got a X9s yesterday and have the following problems/remarks (all for the internal player):
- Occasionally black screen every 30-40 secs with 4K HEVC/10 Bit (Color space settings are set to 4:4:4)
AV Receiver: Denon X4200
TV: Samsung 4K Model 2016
If i set the color space setting to 4:2:2 there is no blank screen, however there is no 10Bit output too.
- No 4:2:0 output setting, why? Most of the sources are recorded in 4:2:0. Is this output mode is not supported by the Hardware, or is the internal processing done in 4:2:2 or 4:4:4.
What i can say is that internal hw processing is not done in RGB like it seems in Nvidia's Shield TV. The goal is to do less modifications on the source as possible.
- No 23.976 in HDMI Mode setting, this would prevent flicker during frame rate switching on every playback start because most movies are in 23.976
- No automatic resolution switch (1080p, 2160p).
- No automatic Color depth switch (8-Bit, 10-Bit)
This will make the X9s the greatest player.

If you have deep color on, you will get black screen (AV dropouts) at 2160p. To prevent this you can either select 4:2:2 or turn deep color off at 2160p.
4:2:2 output can only be 12-bit as per HDMI specs. If you set it to 10-bit, on reboot there will be no video output.
4:2:0 is allowed only for 50/59.94/60Hz at 2160p as per HDMI 2.0 specs. If you select 3840x2160/4096x2160 50/60Hz, you will see 4:2:0 as an option.

Found this YouTube video that explains chroma subsampling. I get that we ideally want 4:4:4, but that isn't possible either because of the display device or media player limitations.
With 10- vs. 12-bit, isn't any practical, real world 4K content (whether UHD Blu-ray, Netflix 4K, etc.) mostly 10-bit? So, why are we talking about 12-bit?
Next, there are various framerates and what the display device or media player can/can't support. Again, for 4K, are we really talking about 23.976/24/25/50/59.94/60 needing to be supported by a 4K media player? At 4:2:0 and at best 4:2:2?
Now, while I'm still trying to get my head around all of the above, I've been wondering about buying the Epson 5040UB projector, and getting confused by what this means (posted by projectorcentral.com) w/regards to Zidoo X9S or HiMedia Q10 Pro, or even 4K streaming services on Shield and Roku Premiere+/Ultra:
Appears that Epson 5040UB can display 4K HDR for 23.976/24 (most film-based content) fully, up to 4:2:2 and 12-bit (even though source content, whether UHD Blu-ray or 4K Netflix is really 4:2:0 and 10-bit?).
Anyway, this stuff makes my head spin... and I'm an A/V enthusiast. Think more than 90% of consumers trying to understand and adopt 4K will be totally lost.

I have found the following on hdmi.org:
It seems that for 4K movies (like the one on HD Blu Ray) 4:4:4 is the best output format. But in this format the screen goes black every few secounds.
Futhermore i don't see a deep colour output when set to 4:2:2 and 12 Bit (as HDMI) allows.
So currently it is not possible to see 4K/HEVC/23.976/10 Bit. I used Spears and Munsil Quantization test video and other sources.
