Hi,

I looked into that but i want to do away with my acer running windows, i was was just wanting to use this chromebox without my other PC running in the background.

I am only looking for a good browsing experience and have the option to watch openelec and download some torrents now and again.

Not sure if anyone can help me on this one. So I updates to Kodi. All was fine with past Gotham. Now when I add my advancedsettinga.xml file I don't see my lib anyone. I can do this on my Windows box without any issues.

So found the issue! It was because booting so fast doesn't connect. Changed setting to delay boot some and works now!

I've read and re-read the first post, but not sure how to update coreboot firmware... I've got standalone OE installed. How do I run the code below? From SSH terminal? Any instructions? Thanks.

but if it ain't broke, and there's nothing in the new firmware that specifically fixes an issue you are having (as listed in the changelog), then there's no reason to update.

I have a standalone OE setup, I copied the 4 files to the upgrade directory and then rebooted the Chromebox, afterwards it detected the files in the upgrade folder, but I had a black screen, so I hard powered down the chromebox and when I powered it back on it started to flicking the Kodi symbol with the mouse cursor showing on the screen in a endless loop. So now I am stuck and don't know how to reset this, any help is appreciated.

What I did was just copy the TAR file into the upgrade directory (no need to unzip - as per WIKI) and reboot.

that's not going to make any difference. He's stuck in a bootloop since some add-on, skin, etc isn't compatible with 5.0 -- which is why there's no automatic upgrade. Either way, this is a general OpenELEC install/upgrade issue, and best addressed somewhere other than this thread (since it's not an issue related to the script or dual booting)

I've been having this problem lately and was hoping someone could shed some light on it. I'm having buffering issues when streaming a movie that isn't on my hard drive. After about an hour it will start buffering. I press "O" and the cache(10mb most of the time but did see 20mb once) is down to 0. I increased the cache by following some of vids on Youtube and still no luck. If I start a new movie it will play fine but after about an hour I start having issues again. My internet is 100mbs but the Chromebox sees between 60-80mbs through a powerline converter. I think I have only had the issue at night so maybe it's a server issue?

Need some assistance / guidance on audio. I just bought an Asus Chromebox, followed the steps outline on the Page 1, created a stand alone OE...and frankly everything works. everything that is but the audio.....its brittle and scarcthy. Just cant seem to figure it out. Any one else have similar issues...if so how did you guys fix it.

First I've heard of that issue on a ChromeBox. HDMI audio? connected to what AVR or TV? playing what format/sample rate audio? In what container?

Matt, it's strange, I have done a new install with OE 5 using the bootable stick. With the stick done a quick install and all is fine, but as soon as I put in the advancedsettings with mysql details it starts with the endless loop. I have already added the 10sec delay for network but that made no difference.

Ok so I have everything setup through MySQL and I want to update to OE 5.0.

First off, when I go look at the releases, I see 2 files (http://openelec.tv/get-openelec):

Which do I use?

And from reading above, I see that we have to drop this into the /storage/.update/ folder and reboot.

What exactly is going to happen when I reboot?
Will this go out and create a new database and copy all of my content (database entries)?
Is this going to wipe away all of my MySQL settings?

I know to make a backup but I want to make sure I know what's going on before I do it...

I also have 5 rpi's to do but I suppose that's for a different thread

Ok so I have everything setup through MySQL and I want to update to OE 5.0.

First off, when I go look at the releases, I see 2 files (http://openelec.tv/get-openelec):

[Stable] OpenELEC 5.0.0 (x86_64)

Which do I use?

And from reading above, I see that we have to drop this into the /storage/.update/ folder and reboot.

What exactly is going to happen when I reboot?
Will this go out and create a new database and copy all of my content (database entries)?
Is this going to wipe away all of my MySQL settings?

I know to make a backup but I want to make sure I know what's going on before I do it...

I also have 5 rpi's to do but I suppose that's for a different thread

Use the first one, the non-Diskimage version into the /storage/.update/ folder.

Once you reboot it will unpack the files and update OE.

Your MySQL settings are in advancedsettings.xml. It will connect to that MySQL db and add new databases for movies and music and copy all the current db values into the new tables (nothing will be lost including watched flags)

You must already have a wait for network delay added if you are already using MySQL but if you don't see your TV shows or Movies make sure you have that delay in the OE options configured.

That's it. Now if you have any other devices still using XBMC it will not keep both of these databases insync so it is best to update all devices to the same version.
