Im not sure to be honest! I think it does and its known as terminal. Will give this a go. Thanks.

Code:
scp OpenELEC-whatever.tar root@chromeboxip:~/.update/

ssh is definitely there and can be run in terminal. I use FileZilla for file transfer though - as it has a GUI which makes life a bit easier.

Terminal is how you get a command line in OS X. You then run apps from the command line.
(2014-12-30, 22:34)hansibull Wrote: [ -> ]Isn't some kind of driver related issue? I've experienced this Intel (Haswell) HDMI audio problem on many TVs (and my own AVR). The Chromebox is the only device I've ever had audio issues with, and you says that the problem is the TVs and AVRs. There may be some EDID bugs, but the Intel driver must be really picky when it comes to EDID related issues. Never had ANY problems with other PCs, gaming consoles or TV decoders

Could be driver related... but to report something positive, zero issues between OE on a Chromebox and my Marantz NR1605 feeding it all kinds of varied formats.

Matt, thanks for the tip. I played around with Fixed audio output and it finally worked. I think its time to get a new TV. Thanks once again for the quick response. You rock!!
the ubuntu, the script installs is a regular ubuntu with kodi in it? i mean can i use the linux desktop like a regular desktop? as in surf the web run torrent program/newsgroups programs and the desktop has full hardware acceleration? thanks for answers
It's regular Ubuntu, so yeah

ok, thanks what i meant was maybe there was little problems with full hardware acceleration, that were still being fixed because the chromebox hardware is unique....

it's not unique, it's similar to the i3 Haswell NUC, Gigabyte Brix 2955U, and every other SFF PC which uses the 2955U/2957U CPU. Intel's linux drivers have had some issues, but most have been fixed, some very recently.

No - the problems weren't unique to the Chromebox (other Intel Haswell Celeron systems like the Gigabyte Brix had them, as did Haswell i3 systems to a lesser degree) , and the GPU hangs appear to have been fixed recently. I've not had a single hang with the new release of OpenElec with the new Intel drivers on my Chromebox.
There are only Freezes on Baytrail System actually: https://github.com/OpenELEC/OpenELEC.tv/issues/3726
Hello,
Could somebody help me here please?

I'm running dual boot (Chrome + OpenELEC) auto-booting into OpenELEC.
I don't have a keyboard but I can access the AsusBOX through ssh while running OpenELEC.

I want to remove dual boot since I never use ChromeOS, and the extra space might come handy for Kodi. Can I just run the script from OpenELEC and install the standalone version (OpenELEC\Kodi) or do I need to boot into ChromeOS and install it from there? (the issue here is since I don't have keyboard, I can't hit CTRL+D to change boot)

Thanks for your help.
Hi there jtadeia
Yes, you got it right. Run the script and choose standalone....

@matt or anything else who can help me... I took the original SSD an put it in an adapter so I can use it to install OpenELEC on a different pc, but it says it's read only... I did have it running in my Chromebox dual booting but then I upgraded the ssd for a full Ubuntu install. Maybe the adapter is defective?
Any ideas?

I just wanted to make sure it kept my settings - even though I will make a backup I could see where it would be a pain to get everything connected and working again.

Just reporting back...

My upgrades went as smooth as silk...
Matt Devo- Thank you.

I installed a standalone OpenELEC a week ago. Such a pleasure to pass the old sluggish android box on to another family member.

Your script went fine but I ran into the overscan problem during install and I could not see about the first 4 or 5 characters at the left margin during install.

I've got an old 50" Panasonic Plasma Viera and I messed around with settings to try and eliminate the overscan but never found success. The biggest trouble came during selection process for USB back-up or write of OpenELEC. I could not see the number the script was expecting. I ended up moving the USB to a different location and hit a 1 and that got things going. I did not have a different spare monitor to use.

I guess there is not a good way to have your script tab about 5 characters to the right... I may build a few more Chomeboxes for less technically inclined buddies, so I'm not looking forward to the overscan problem again.

Cheers.
Why not connect a computer monitor when setting it up?
