Is it a known KODI DSPlayer bug that within a clean KODI DSPlayer->MadVR hdr2sdr playing situation, MadVR may loses the active hdr2sdr conversion when playing an UHD file and jumping chapters many times while playing?
Steps i can reproduce it very often:
- Play the file with KODI DSPlayer+MadVR - look for the correct nice saturated hdr2sdr colors MadVR produces
- Jump chapters while playing, do it very fast, do is in both directions multiple times through the entire movie
- After some chapter jumping you may see that the well saturated colors suddenly are gone. MadVR is still active (MadVR overlay CRTL+J is still visible) but hdr2sdr conversion is suddenly inactive
- I can _not_ reproduce this when using MPC+MadVR-hdr2sdr and do the same tests (fast chapter jumping multiple times) - therefore my question
If you run into this problem, stopping the movie and restarting it withing your KODI DSPlayers helps.
Any confirmation would be great. Thanks :-)
Edit: The issue may have to do with the the XySubFilter. When i disable subtitles i could not reproduce it in some more short tests.
with all the slipping you are probably just crashing your display out of HDR mode, mine drops out of HDR mode sometimes if i'm skipping about too much, the answer is to not skip about too much
Can someone who has working Kodi + MediaPortal PVR tell me what settings they're using? I can't seem to find a way to get live TV to play using DVDPlayer whilst still being able to seek and pause. I've tried using the
playercorefactory.xml file from the
HOW TO thread and I've tried both ffmpeg and TS Reader playback methods in the MediaPortal PVR settings, but nothing seems to work correctly.
So far I can either get it to use DSPlayer but lose seeking functionality (only pause/play works, any seek just rewinds the stream back to the start), or I can get it to use what I assume is DVDPlayer (since there are no madVR stats) but have literally no functionality other than stop. Surely someone has got this working??
@Warner360, I read through your guide yesterday evening and setup of MadVR.. I wanted to confirm a few things please...
As I previously stated.. I only view 1080p Bluray Remux and 2160p HDR Remux (Highest Bitrate Quality) so all are perfect quality..
I have a few questions please:
1 - Do I add the refresh rates in Madvr (i.e: 2160p60, 2160p59, 2160p50, 2160p24, 2160p23, 1080p60, 1080p59, 1080p50, 1080p24, 1080p23) or is this not necessary?
2 - Previously you mentioned that I should create two separate folders.. Can you please confirm one should be called 2160p and the other 1080p? Once created what do I actually do with them (so sorry for the silly question) also what benefits do these offer?
3 - For some reason my copy of COCO in 4K HDR is out of sync with the audio in Kodi DSPLAYER ... I know the video is good because I have seen it in perfect working order on my other PC... Shall I use Clockwork rather than Sanear? Is Clock Work superior to Sanear or is Sanear the best?
Thank you so much, If I can please get some more information on this I would be ever so grateful.
After more tests i can confirm it's an issue betweens XySubFilter/MadVR. It also happens within MPC if you use XySubFilter there.
Since i'm using a higher end system, i could never get the HDR mode to drop out but in the mentioned situation. This is most likely a bug. I'll see if i can get it to madshi - maybe he has an idea if it's fixable in code.
Thanks for your feedback!

1- You only need the 2160p display modes, as your display is native 2160p. You want everything to be scaled to 3840 x 2160p.
2 - Yes, create two folders. One named "2160p" and the other "1080p" using the rules I provided. You are forgetting what madVR is doing to these two sources. One is being upscaled with image upscaling, the other is not. You want to maximize chroma upscaling for the 2160p profile (which you already have) and maximize luma doubling with the 1080p profile (which you haven't done yet). To maximize luma doubling, you will most likely have to reduce chroma upscaling to Bicubic60 + AR and then use the highest value of NGU Sharp possible. These profiles and their differences are covered here:
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2238974. Read the text before the 2160p and 1080p profiles for a 4K display.
3 - You can use any audio renderer you want. If bitstreaming, it shouldn't make any difference at all. The audio delay is likely a problem with the source. You can use Kodi's audio delay ("A") to correct this. This delay will be remembered by the player after it is selected. Maybe the audio renderer will correct this; maybe it won't.
Thank you @Warner360
hope the above images help..
You made one mistake. Change always supersampling to let madVR decide. I think you were reading the wrong 1080p profile. There is no supersampling. This may change your setting for luma doubling.
Thank you so much @Warner360 is that there only error? If do what do I choose instead please? Let madVR decide?.. Also have I put the sources codes you sent me correctly in the right places? Thanks
@
mkohman he says it in his reply. "let madVR decide"
Thank you.. Apologies its super early lol 5.25am here must have missed it lol.. Thanks for all your help guys [emoji106]
mkohman, this might help.
with scaling you dont need the image downscaling as you are only ever upscaling so this can be left 'global'.
image downscaling only ever comes into play when you are trying to play 4k on a 1080p only display device.
windowed mode, exclusive mode, stereo 3d and screenshots are 'global' for all aspect ratios.
-------------------------------
setting the above 3 profiles gives you pretty much complete control of each aspect ratio within madVR.
if you dont use dvd then dont include the line with "SD" at the end
Thank toy so much.. Yes it does help.. Am I missing anything though? I posted some screen shots of mine a few posts above is there anything different that i have missed out.. I won't be using SD so will apply 4K and 1080p only.. Thanks again.. [emoji106]
not really. just copy what i have put up in screenshots for each profile in each group, after that is just a case of fine tuning the settings within the profiles.
dont always aim for the high settings in scaling or what other people tell you is the best, its only the best setting with regards to your eyes and your hardware. unless you get a qualified calibrator in to set them for you.
it can actually be worse if you get the wrong setting. nobody can tell you what the correct settings are without actually being there as screenshots are only as good as what the other person is seeing on their display device, reminds me of the old mitsubishi black diamond tv adverts... lol
with regards to, madVR -> devices -> your display device -> display modes -> list all display modes madVR may switch to: put 2160p23, 2160p60, 1080p23 in there.
yes it will switch to 1080p for bluray but i'm guessing your nice shiny new projector has upscaling built in. if so then make use of it as it will no doubt be hardware rather than software driven.
i have got better PQ results not upscaling 1080p (bluray) to 2160p (4k)
turn off 'video processing' in your AV amplifier as you dont want it messing with the signal. set the HDMI 4k properties to 'passthrough' or set to what your display device (projector) is capable of e.g. "extended" or "standard".
one more thing, are you using windows 8 as your screenshots look very much like it.
