I run with madVR limited>GPU full>TV limited and I have Kodi set up to use video levels. DSPlayer though seems to use PC levels, as in if I press pause and the seek bar and so on comes up, it switches to PC levels, making the picture bright and washed out. Is there a way to make DSPlayer display its OSD stuff in video levels?
Its not DSplayer but KODI, look under

SYSTEM-SETTINGS/DISPLAY and disable use Limited Colour Range.
Hi, yes that option is checked so I get correct levels in Kodi itself, however, DSPlayer uses PC levels always, regardless of what that option with Kodi itself is set to.
and by PC levels, I mean it's own OSD, so the seekbar etc is always displayed in PC levels.

serverwmc is likely not supported by DSPlayer. That is likely your issue.

For video add-ons, I've been using Aeon Nox Silvo (an Aeon Nox 5 fork) without issue with the majority of add-ons.

That sounds like a bug with DSPlayer. If it is, it can't be fixed in DSPlayer 17.6.

Does your display not support full range? You aren't degrading the image by using Full -> Full -> Full.

Thanks but for a couple of reasons I get better results with Limited>Full>Limited (my TV is worse near-black with all full), and I've also calibrated this way. It's not a big deal really, I can just stop the video instead of pausing.

I'll have to take a look at serverwmc's compatibility then.  I'm on cable, and I need that to work so I'm wondering if your using DS Player with Live TV, and if so, which PVR your using.  Even with estuary I have noticed that I don't get a madvr tray icon for live tv but I do get it with mkvs.  This is true with any skin as well.  I have shark's codec pack installed because I'm testing the transition from WMC to Kodi DS.  I came to this for specifically for the combination of web, and cable content in a single interface.  I guess my next step is playing around with my codecs via shark's interface.  Server WMC should just be passing off a mpeg 2 stream from my cable company so I'm skeptical about that being the culprit but I'm not an expert either so I can always be wrong.  I want to say thanks one more time for supporting this though
you should be using full RGB 444 on your graphics card, 0-255 in madvr and set you TV to HIGH if its LG OLED, this should not affect near black performance, in fact quite the opposite, id have another look at this again if i were you as it will fix this issue and you wont have a crushed pc desktop.
@Warner306 I started reading the documentation, and noticed next pvr, and Media portal are recommended.  I'm not completely convinced this eliminates serverwmc just yet but obviously I can't say it does work until its proven.  I still suspect a codec issue because my videos still play in the default skin.  I'm trying out kodi because I want things to be just right so I'm willing to put in the work to make them the way I want them to be.  I have an extra hard drive laying around so I might pull the drive on my test machine, and install windows 10 on the spare, and setup kodi ds without any codec packs just to eliminate any potential issues with that.  If that fails, and I can't find a different way around my problems then I'll try next PVR because I have used both of the options mentioned above, and NPVR seemed simpler, unless you know of some advantage that media portal has over NPVR.

Edit: If the PVR client has to use the server's codecs then I might be out of luck for server WMC.  I didn't have any luck changing the live TV codecs for WMC because MS restricted the video decoder to its own locked down decoder.
Have you tried regular Kodi? It has better support for live TV.
I'm not ready to give up just yet.  Kodi DS still does a lot of what I need, and I can always just throw up a next pvr instance on a spare pc to try things out.

I've noticed that when using the dsplayer version only sometimes will it report the playback status, example if you pause a movie then play it it will report these events, try a second time and no pause/play event is passed on, try a 3rd time and it might work, it seems very random as to when it will or will not work.

I've noticed pressing stop or letting a video play until the end is always published fine.

For a test I installed the stock version of Kodi and all events are updated as expected. I thought since an external player is being used it might not work at all, but not sure why the randomness of it?

I'm using my own Python service to listen to the websockets and adjust lights based on the play/pause/stop events. No such problems, I haven't noticed any missed events.

Due to limitations with my AVR and 4K, I have had to use a DP to HDMI adapter to take Audio from my nVidia GTX 1050 to my AVR and Video straight to my TV. This has created many more issues than I thought not only with KODI but Explorer/Chrome and the likes minimizing to the other desktop, which does not exist, there are ways to get things back and or trying to make sure apps stay on the main desktop, but a lot of the time they seem to do what they want. I tried Ultramon which did help but it sometimes created issues and left me with a non functioning NVCP limited to 1080p.

KODI has been a real pain, at one point it all went away, I had my desktop and KODI at 2160p and everything was working well to a point and I had limited issues with KODI minimizing or jumping up to the top left corner, things like \\ helped get it back, but the only sure fire way I seem to have locked KODI down is to set my desktop at 2160p and 23 Mhz, this seems to stop KODI having a melt down, the strange thing is everything is upscaled to 2160p, so everything has to go into this resolution, but it was only the 4K UHD files that when exited would make KODI jump to a non existent desktop and sometimes I had to close KODI down from the taskbar to then restart.

KODI would also restore to the desktop a lot of the time saying keep new settings, it was as if it was changing resolution, but you have no idea what to, I thought if I locked the settings down this would stop it, but it had no effect, and the screen would bounce up and down to the taskbar or some other annoyance.

Anyone have any other ideas what to do here, as its really ruining the KODI experience for me right now.

Does not seem to be a driver issue as its common to old and new. I have set the 2nd non existant desktop to 800x600 which helps losing the mouse etc, but you cant just disable the 2nd desktop as you lose sound, if you go below 800x600 you lost HI-RES audio, what a mess Smile

I think the problem is most likely with nVidia driver and HDR-SDR switching that causes this. Not really a solution you were looking for, but I thought to point out that your extra display isn't really the root cause, it just causes some extra symptoms. Many of these problems occur also with a single display.

On my main HTPC (regular 1080p SDR output) I have a DVI-HDMI adapter for sound (with the phantom display), and I haven't seen any such jumpiness, Kodi stays fullscreen and sticks to the main display just fine.
My secondary setup with a 4k HDR TV doesn't have the separate sound and phantom display, but it still has jumpiness after playing HDR. Sometimes after stopping playback, the Kodi window moves to the upper left corner as a smaller window in some pseudo-fullscreen state. I'm also using DPI scaling on this machine, but I haven't bothered to investigate this more to see if changing that makes a difference.
Thanks for the reply.

Ironically I have a fix ? well sort of.

As I said earlier apart from buying a new AVR with correct full 4K passthrough I was pretty stumped, I tried all the apps, but nothing seemed to work or if it did it would be a once all and then the usual surprise.

However I did read that mirroring the display got rid of it, I had issues with this as I had a basic DP to HDMI adapter and was using DP1.4 to HDMI 2.0b, and I never knew that was a thing so was also limited to 1080p on the phantom 2nd display, so if I mirrored with that, I would be restricted with my main 4K display to 1080p as well, so no dice there.

So after messing about longer than I needed to in hindsight and very close to buying a new AVR, I bought an Active DP.1.4 to HDMI cable, set both my displays to 4K as I had the option now, could only set the phantom one to 30Mhz max (AVR) and thought I would be limited to 30 Mhz max with primary display.

But No, primary at 60mhz, and all good now, nowhere for any application to jump to so I think all is good now.
