It's not the main version because Kodi is a multiplatform project. It *has to* work on Linux, MacOS, Windows, Android, iOS. As such, at the most, DSPlayer could have been an optional component for the Windows version, nothing more.

I would have loved to see it as a mantained binary add-on for Windows. I've tried for months, years probably, to understand whether that would have been doable or not. Unfortunately, aracnoz's decision to quit development made the whole thing completely moot.

But when I download madVR, after extract I cannot find madMeasureHDR as your description.

madMeasureHDR is located in the madVR installation folder. This command-based utility is available to pre-parse HDR videos to create frame-based HDR10 metadata that is stored in a .measurements file. These metadata files are used to replace madVR's live dynamic measurements, and should provide fewer jumps in brightness and a reduced potential for flickering artifacts by providing madVR with all frame measurements ahead of time to predict scene and chapter changes before they happen. The pre-scraped metadata also provides a small uptick in accuracy compared to the brightness histogram used by the live tone mapping algorithm.

The script decodes, measures and records the brightness of each video frame to create metadata that can be read by madVR when tone map HDR using pixel shaders is selected. The real-time histogram is replaced by the frame-by-frame, hard-coded metadata. The use of scene-based metadata is similar in concept to how Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content is mastered with the intent to make tone mapping more precise by flagging the brightness of each scene or even individual frames to allow displays to optimize its tone mapping for each individual scene in the video.

I'm running Kodi DSPLayer build from this thread, everything configured. (Windows 11)

I cannot get resume to work with PlexKodiConnect. I'm using the default skin and resume will always start from the beginning of the file.

Using the official Plex addon, resume does work, so is not my Plex server. However this option is slow and clunky and doesn't play my 4K/HDR properly.

Note, using PlexKodiConnect with non DSplayerl latest builds of Kodi also works as expected, which suggests the issue is not the addon.

I've tried installing and reinstalling from scratch, but same error. Anything else to try? Many thanks.
Is it even worth using this version anymore?  I mean I really like the integration, but we are what 2 or 3 versions behind already and it looks like no hope of catching up?  I'm thinking of just going back to using an external player with madvr and calling it a day.

I guess it depends on what you use Kodi for. For my usage pattern I would gain pretty much zero from moving to the regular, updated, builds. The only real thing I'm scared of is movie/tv scrapers not getting updates anymore.

On the other hand, regular builds, at this time, probably just lack high quality scaling options to reach feature parity with DSPlayer. I am still baffled those haven't been implemented, considering how many are now available in open source. But I am no developer, so it's not a complaint, I'm simply surprised.
Which TV and Movie scrapers still work OK with this version. Im sure I remember moving up from Kyrpton for the reason that the scrapers didnt always work proprly.

Fancy trying, it out with madvr but without good scrapers the whole thing wouldnt be a good experience.
you can just do that with madvr with mpc-be and mpc-hc

Both IMDB and TMDB work for movies, TMDB and TheTVDB work for tv shows. Basically all you could care about, I guess. I am having no problems.

Are you using direct paths?

"Just an update - getting direct paths to work (by redirecting my local plex server to use network paths vs. drive paths) did seem to resolve this issue, so thank you for this!" See here:

Thanks for the reply, Those are the only ones I need. If you say they are working OK, then thats great. Hope they stay thay way for the foreseeable.
Hey thank you so much! I can confirm direct paths have worked.

I thought I searched issues/bugs but somehow missed that post.
Lately my kodi had been having some troubles. When I click to open it, it seems to take forever for it to open. Anyone else having troubles ?

Nope. You better activate debug log and post that (see link in my signature). Otherwise it's pretty much impossible to provide help.
