Angelscry Wrote:No,no, no... Advanced Launcher is not broken. You are using a GIT/unstable/non-released version of XBMC. Advanced Launcher is actually compatible with Dharma version of XBMC but not with pre-Eden version.
Oh, ok got you, fixed it already anyway, thanks
Version 1.3.0 : Eden version of XBMC will use more recent and different python libraries than Dharma version. So, some parts of the Advanced Launcher code must be changed/corrected/rewrited to still Advanced Launcher add-on compatible with last GIT version. This new version allows Advanced Launcher to run on recent XBMC pre-Eden versions (GIT) and also on actual stable XBMC Dharma version (10.1). This version also add some small fixes.
ChangeLog- Bring XBMC pre-Eden version compatibility.
- Replace md5 deprecated function (Eden).
- Fix XML parsing (Eden).
- Add XML parsing auto-clean function.
- Fix dialog close bug for empty result scans.
- Fix all scrapers default encoding.
Thank you for the new version - works like a charm!
Thank you to Angelscry for the update, and HenryFord for his guide.
Excuse me, I'm wrong is fatigue
this is a great addon, I have been using it for several months recently I switched skins from Tansparency to Neon skin and When setting up advance launcher in the Neon skin for some reason the fanart of my games does not get displayed the thumbs do but not the fanart. My guess is it is the skin and not the addon as when I switch to other skins ie transparency or xperience the fanart is display. Anybody else experiencing the same issue ? any suggestions to correct ?
Thanks

The problem is effectively the Neon skin that do not actually support yet the display of programs fanarts and information (plot, release, etc...). There is 2 ways to solve this : Ask Stoli to add or modify programs views to display fanarts and information; Found someone else to create these moded views.
Version 1.3.1 : Just a small update related again to pre-Eden compatibility by replacing the deprecated os.getcwd() function.
ChangeLog:- Replace os.getcwd deprecated functions.
Here is another update (version 1.2) of my black thumbs and fanarts console images pack for Advanced Launcher. This version change the Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Genesis, Master System, NES, PC-Engine, Odyssey2, Saturn and Mega-CD logos. It also change the 3DO, Arcadia-2001, Astrocade, Nintendo 64, Odyssey2, SNES and Master System fanarts and finally resize the 3DO, CD-i, SNES and Nintendo 64 logos

It is already in the works:

As listed on the feature-requests...
I'm really liking the black thumbs packs you are working on and if you are in the mood for taking requests I would love to see the inclusion of Mame, Laserdisc/Daphne and PC logos and fanarts.
Also, where are you getting the console/system descriptions from?

No problem for requests. But for your request, MAME and Daphne are not really game systems but arcade emulators (like Demul, FBA, Model 2 Emulator, Supermodel,etc...). I will add one a thumb/fanart images combo for Arcade systems and another one for PC computers. Console systems descriptions have been taken from Wikipedia.
I'm using your great script for emulators (under Ubuntu 1.10) and everything runs perfectly without a glitch.
Today I installed a Kinect controller and each time I try to run kinect sample demos nothing happens (they run fine using SSH!).
xbmc debug log indicated some errors :
22:27:42 T:3079518080 M:771485696 ERROR: GLX: Same window as before, refreshing context
22:27:44 T:2898205552 M:771743744 ERROR: Previous line repeats 1 times.
I chmoded to 777 my kinect executable so there's no permission problem, so I guess it's related to window mode but I can't be sure and there's no trace of a single in every log files in /var/log so it's a dead end for now
Any ideas are welcome !
Thanks

Could be a problem of compatibility between XBMC and the Kinect controller program that cannot work both at the same time. Maybe you can try to use an external script to close XBMC before starting Kinect controller. Here an example how to proceed :

Thank you very much for the quick reply !
I'll try this when I'm at home later and give feedback.
