what am i doing wrong?
What skin are you using? Is it supported by ALA or if not, do you have the requisite mod installed to allow ALA to work?
If you have a supported skin the only thing I can think of is to try reinstalling ALA and/or rebooting. You should at least be able to get to a screen to create a launcher.
I use Aeon65, and occasionally ALA will display "loading directory retrieved 0 items" but this usually lasts for 2-3 seconds max, at which point I'm redirected to a list of launchers.

i was using the default 'Night' skin installed through XBMC - the OP said that was supported?
i'll try to re-install the add-on.
edit: also, what is it that specifically needs to be supported by a skin for this add-on to work? what is stopping me from using this add-on in the Transparency! skin, for example?
Here's what it look like with Mame Plus 0.141 (I compiled it myself and removed all the nag screen at the begining)
I'm running everything in 1080p resolution with Transparency 3.11 on my 42inch LED Tv and it looks great. Here's a mini montage...
Now anybody tried to make the emulator Demul work with this? there is some great arcade game on this.

I will try to fix all the stings format problem under Advanced Launcher this week-end (scraper import, filename support, etc...).

No... The skin you select did not have any effect into the way the Advanced Add-on is working. The skins that support Advanced Launcher are only skin that allow programs to display additional program information like fanart, plot, etc...
On thing you can try :
- uninstall the advanced launcher Add-on.
- delete the "plugin.program.advanced.launcher" folder into the XBMC/addons directory.
- delete any plugin.program.advanced.launcher files into the XBMC/packages directory
- delete the plugin.program.advanced.launcher directory into the userdata/addon_data/ folder.
- then, reinstall the advanced launcher add-on
Even if you manually delete the add-on from XBMC, files related to this add-on still on the computer and could generate errors when you reinstall a different version over them. By doing this you will totally delete any trace of the add-on.

There is a Read-me file in the skin that tells you how to use the extra fanart/thumbs. I'm using the third controller image as the icon for the emulator selection.
Thanks for the fanart!
I'm using these images for thumbnails (I think they look a bit better):

All my roms are in their own .7z file. There are lots of Emulators, like Nestopia, that will open those just fine.
I configured Advanced Launcher to look for .7z files and it works without a problem.
Can anyone tell me how to launch Dalphin in Linux Lucid 10.4 through the command line?
- From the terminal I can type: dolphin-emu and it will launch the gui
- If I type dolphin-emu -h it gives me the help information
- It tells me the argument -e is used to launch a file i.e. .iso
- I tried typing dolphin-emu -e /home/htpc/Documents/Wii Roms/New SUPER MARIO BROS. Wii.iso and it returns the help screen and says Unexpected parameter "Roms/New"
- I removed all spaces from the file name and path
- Now it launches the gui but it returns an error The specified file path/filename.iso does not exist
Any Thoughts? I can run the game through the gui just fine (sound doesn't work though)
Never Mind. I was doing this through VNC and I guess it wasn't liking that. I got it working. Now lets see if ALA will do it.
Sweet!
Here is my launchers.xml file entry for Dolphin
I'm using the applaunch.sh script to launch it so I get the best frame rates possible.
There doesn't seem to be a quick exit option so I'm still looking into this. If anyone knows how to quit the emulator without returning to the Dalphin GUI that would be great.
Code:

Now, about my sound issue? Can anyone help me out.
I've tried setting the sound usage to Alsa and PulsAudio and neither work

Ok... I did not have test Dalphin under linux at all but I think that a command line with quotes will be better, like this :
Code:
dolphin-emu -e "/home/htpc/Documents/Wii Roms/New SUPER MARIO BROS. Wii.iso"
The other problem could be the "." into the title that can make Dalphin identify the file extension as " Wii.iso" instead of ".iso". So try to remove the "." after BROS and start the emulator like this:
Code:
dolphin-emu -e "/home/htpc/Documents/Wii Roms/New SUPER MARIO BROS Wii.iso"

Well, I've already extracted them so I don't have the problem anymore. But the issue is that Nestopia would prompt the user to select which file they wanted to play, and I couldn't find a good way to select the file without getting out a mouse (boooo!). Non-issue now, though.
Hi,
I was trying to get the Launcher work with xmame. The emu starts out of the box but the cover/fanart download stucks on script error.
How can i fix this ? Im on a ASROCK330 Nettop/yavdr/xbmc machine.

Do you using the Advanced Launcher in English or in another language?
