(2013-07-10, 00:14)Angelscry Wrote: [ -> ]I'm not able to reproduce your problem on my system. BTW, Advanced Launcher use XBMC built-in functions and skin display for the folders/items navigation. Advanced launcher do not have any control on the "BACKSPACE" key action. So, if the navigation do not works 1% of the time, that's mostly related to the skin you are using or to XBMC itself.

Also, If you always use the "BACKSPACE" key to go to the home menu, map it to "HOME" and not to "BACK".

Thanks for looking into this issue. I really appreciate the help.

It's very hit or miss for me as well. However, I found one sure fire way to recreate it 100% of the time. We have established there are three levels to my setup: 1st is the title screen, 2nd is the emulator select screen and 3rd is the ROM or game select screen. If your on the lowest level 3 and hit back it goes up to the 2nd level, as it should. However if your on the 3rd level and hit ESC it jumps up to the first level (title screen). Now, from here if you were to navigate BACK DOWN to the 3rd level (game select screen) and THEN hit back, it does not go back up to the 2nd level as normal. This is where it dumps you in to the Add-Ons menu. Is it possible to restrict this action here?
But... that a normal behaviour!

The BACK button make you return to the previous XBMC screen. So if you access a categoy, a launcher or an item of Advanced launcher directly using a custom menu entry from the XBMC menu, so the ESC key (BACK button) will make you return to the previous screen which is the XBMC home Menu.

But if you access the root directory, a categoy, a launcher or an item of Advanced launcher manually (by going into Programs entry > Advanced Launcher) from the XBMC menu, so the ESC key (BACK button) will make you return respectively to the Addon-list, the root directory, the categoy of the launcher or the launcher of the item.

That's how XBMC works... and I cannot change it.

When I'm in XBMC, and through AdvancedLauncher, trying to open a game with my .bat config, which looks like this:

Code:
pssuspend XBMC.exe
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Emulator\RetroArch"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Emulator\RetroArch\retroarch.exe" -f -D -L snes9x_next_libretro_x86_64_20130629.dll %1
pssuspend -r XBMC.exe

But when I do this, XBMC crashes, and is not responding. RetroArch and the game seems to be running fine in the background though.
I've got the pssuspend.exe in the same folder as where the retroarch.exe is located.

What am I doing wrong?
I think (PSTools) must be installed into the Windows directory. I don't think PsSuspend is a stand alone application and could explain why to .bat script make XBMC crash.

Totally understand! Don't get me wrong, I thought it was something I could tweak but if it's something that's built in, I would never blame you. You have done excellent work on this add-on. Well done sir!

Perhaps you may have some insight on how I have tried to resolve this issue. Here is what I came up with...

Using the "keyboard" XML file as an example in the keymaps folder, you find the entry for what the BACKSPACE and ESC keys do. In the Settings menus of XBMC, when you create a custom favorite, fortunately it lists the exact XML command in the menu: IE: ActivateWindow(10001,"plugin...etc).

So, if coped this down and replaced the command in the "keyboard" XML file of the BACKSPACE key entry with this. So now, no matter where I am in my setup, it always dumps me out into the Emulator select screen when hitting the backspace key...which essentially is what I wanted. So...small victory there.

However, here is the only little issue with this:

Lets say you have 10 emulators. Atari being the first and PlayStation being the last. So, when the emulator screen loads you have to scroll over 10 spots to reach the PlayStation emulator in order to play those games. Now, you select the PSX and you get the game library. Now, under this setup, if I were to hit the backspace key with the newly alerted keystroke, it dumps me back out into the emulator select screen BUT back at the first entry on the left, which would be "A" for Atari. Normally, it would back out one level up, but stay on the last focused panel, which should be the PlayStation since it was the one I had just selected. It may seem nit-picky but I can see this being a slight annoyance for users.

Is there any way to alter the XML file to add some type of command to return to the last highlighted or "focused" panel used?
hi everybody
I recently discover PPSSPP, an ( very good ) emulator for psp
You can get it there: http://www.ppsspp.org/
here is the script to make escape quitting the emulator: ( an autoit script ....)

HotKeySet("{ESC}", "Terminate")

If $CmdLine[0] == 1 Then
Run ( '"C:\jeux 3\emulation\psp\PPSSPPWindows64.exe" "' & $CmdLine[1] & '"', "C:\jeux 3\emulation\psp\" )
While 1
Sleep(100)
WEnd
EndIf

Func Terminate()
ProcessClose ( "PPSSPPWindows64.exe" )
Exit 0
EndFunc

( of course you have to change the pass to your folder tree )

you can leave the argument of advanced launcher as they are ( no argument to add)
and the rom file are iso or cso

you have to configure ppsspp to start fullscreen in his menu or by editing ppsspp.ini ( fullscreen=true)
and that's it!!
enjoy

PS: my script could be written better I 'm not a coder, if you have a more elegant one don't hesitate to share it!! although mine works like I want !
cheers

No! As you doing it, it will directly bring you normally to the Emulators select screen focused on the first item. And that's what it do.

That what do the BACK button Wink

I don't think you will be able to fix this. As I understand you want to use a mix action BACK/HOME button depending of the history access to a specific item. I'm pretty sure XBMC cannot assign specific action depending on how deep you are into the listitems tree and on how you have access it. Your ESC key must be assigned to BACK or HOME button... not a mix of both.

Changed the location of the tools to C:\Windows\pstools - still with the same results.
Is there any special way to install the tools that I am forgetting?

You need to copy/install the PsTools executable files into the C:\Windows folder (not into C:\Windows\pstools). Also take care to remove the PsTools.exe file installed in the same folder than retroarch.exe. Finally to fully use Advanced Launcher under Windows operating system, you will need to activate the Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen option that is present into XBMC system settings.

Fixed everything as you said with the path and the fullscreen, and everything seems to work just fine! Thanks!

Now when I exit a game from the emulator, XBMC goes out of focus, how do I solve that?

Default was already on OFF! Still the same problem occur!
Here's a video I put on Youtube for anyone interested in using comics thru Advanced Launcher in XBMC.

http://youtu.be/dJ4Smsd2DUY

This is using the Ace skin in Poster View.

The basics of this can be found in the tutorial at the beginning of this thread. The twist here is to have multiple copies of your comics viewer named after each comics series. This allows for the top level menu items to each have their own thumbnail and fanart.

I am using CDisplay for the viewer. In the installation folder for your viewer have a copy of it's EXE named for each launcher. Such as:
Batman.exe, Transformers.exe, X-Men.exe, etc. Adv Launcher will only let you have one set of thumbnail/fanart for each launcher.
Check Comicvine for the naming convention for each series. Some are listed as Volume Two instead of Volume 2. The names have to be exact to get the right results returned.
I am at my wits end...I just can't figure out what I could possibly be doing wrong. I am trying to use the batch files to suspend XBMC and run emulators. My batch files have the exact same commands as everyone else's but mine will not suspend xbmc if and only if advanced launcher runs the .bat. If I run the .bat's in Windows they suspend xbmc just fine. Here's one I've been trying to figure out the last few hours:

pssuspend XBMC.exe
cd "D:\Roms\Gamecube\Dolphin-3.5-x64"
Dolphin.exe /b /e %1
pssuspend -r XBMC.exe

I don't understand why it would suspend xbmc when I run it in Windows but when I run it using Advanced Launcher it doesn't. When I use it in Advanced Launcher it loads the roms just fine as well. Please help a frustrated soul.

Have you installed the microsoft PsTools package (containing the PsSuspend executable file) on your Windows system?
(2013-07-14, 03:51)Angelscry Wrote: [ -> ]Have you installed the microsoft PsTools package (containing the PsSuspend executable file) on your Windows system?

Yes, I extracted the files to C:\windows. The weird thing is pssuspend works just fine when I input it into a command line or even when I run the batch file outside of XBMC. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my dumb question, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. I really only need it to work for Dolphin as running certain ROMs takes up a serious chunk of my computer's resources. I've been considering trying to figure out how to run a script using my 360 controller that would suspend xbmc instead of using the batch file but haven't yet figured that out either.

Try using full paths to pssuspend.
