I'll try to give this a go tonight!
thanks for the great support.

Considering Advanced Launcher could pause XBMC in the past, and must be able to do it itself, why not just add an option to the individual launchers for whether to pause & resume XBMC or not when a specific launcher is used?

Into original Launcher add-on, the availability to pause or not a process is made by the use of the
XBMC.System.ExecWait() and
XBMC.System.Exec() XBMC internal python functions. These functions are only used for Windows systems. The problem with that these 2 functions are not able to correctly start command lines under windows : not able to start roms with filenames containing coma, not able to support "current working directory" variable, generate double quotes problems, etc... And this is REALLY annoying when you think that the main goal of Advanced launcher is to start applications using command line. That's why these 2 XBMC internal python functions have been replaced by a common python function to start application.
The only consequence was that Windows users have lost the possibility the put XBMC into pause directly from XBMC, but still have the possibility to do it from an external .bat script. Advantage of external scripts if that after starting them from Advanced Launcher users can control EXACTLY ALL what they want on their system, better than directly from XBMC. Also, to help users with those kind of scripts, an Advanced Launcher dedicated
WIKI page and
forums have been created. If you have a problem to start a specific application, just ask and we will try to help you.

If you´re in windows I have a fairly well tested batch script to pause XBMC when using ALA, let me know if you need help

Here it is if you need it
This version even mounts an ISO image for you if you need so. I guess I could move most of the variables to arguments to be parsed from ALA itself and use the same bat for all games but it would be more of a hassle than help. I'll highlight the lines that represent variables since those are the only lines you need to modify.
Still have to add a way to unpause XBMC if game/app didn't start for any reason, I just thought about it now I'll look into it later
Quote:@echo off
REM pause XBMC
REM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
pssuspend XBMC.exe
REM mount ISO image (optional, remove REM to use it, 5 second wait to make sure image is ready, needs filetype to be associated with daemon tools)
REM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REM start "IMAGE" "PrinceOfPersiaSOT.MDS"
REM timeout 5
REM start the game (I use shortcuts on the same path as the .bat to make it easier, I also use shortcuts so I don't have to mess
REM with quotes when filename.exe has spaces)
REM for steam games you can either use shortcuts created from steam (right click game and select create desktop icon) or you can use steam urls
REM like this: start "GAME" "steam://rungameid/440"
REM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
start "GAME" "PrinceOfPersiaSOT.lnk"
REM set the app process name so it can be tracked, you can check using the taskmanager. In many cases it's just the filename.exe that you're starting
REM but not always, especially when you start steam games with steam://urls
REM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
set process_1="POP.exe"
set ignore_result=INFO:
REM check if process has started, otherwise go to 1
REM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:1
set var=notrunning
for /f "usebackq" %%A in (`tasklist /nh /fi "imagename eq %process_1%"`) do if not %%A==%ignore_result% set var=running
echo variable %var%
timeout 1
if %var% == notrunning goto :1
REM check if process is still running, if not exit the loop
REM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:2
set var=notrunning
for /f "usebackq" %%A in (`tasklist /nh /fi "imagename eq %process_1%"`) do if not %%A==%ignore_result% set var=running
echo variable %var%
timeout 1
if %var% == running goto :2
REM resume XBMC, add any post game tasks here (unmount images, close steam, close xpadder, etc, whatever you need)
REM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
pssuspend -r XBMC.exe

Thank you very much fasteddy. I think a lot of people will be interested.
Hey bruv is there anyway of me importing ala settings to another profile so I don't have to rescrape the emulators at the moment the ala directory is empty with the new profile.

Normally, if you are on the same system, you just have to copy/paste the launchers.xml and settings files into the ala empty directory.

Is there a list of all available infolabels?
igotdvds Wrote:Is there a list of all available infolabels?
- listitem : name, iconImage, thumbnailImage
- listitem.setProperty : fanart_image
- listitem.setInfo : Title, Plot, Studio, Genre, Premiered, Writer, Trailer
Because XBMC plugins Programs do no have specific dedicated infolabels we must used tv shows infolabels. So,
Writer infolabel is used for Game System and
Trailer infolabel is used for extrafanart.
