i am launching my lnk-files with my own shourtcut-launcher, which does a few other things too (e.g. loading a xpadder-(gamepad)-profile, if present).
of course this isn't working anymore since Version 0.9.6.
would it be possible for you to somehow re-add the old behaviour, where the lnk file is launched with the stated application? maybe your could add an option in the addon-settings like "Launch lnk-Files (=windows shortcuts) directly", or even make a third type of launcher item, with has the new behaviour:- Standalone (normal PC executable)
- File launcher (e.g. game emulator)
- Shortcut Launcher
... leaving the "File launcher" with the old behaviour.
I have added an option on the last version to deactivate the internal support of .lnk files. When this option is deactivated you can use the launcher like the other ones this .lnk files.

SophT wrote a script to put Hyperspin on his Main View. It closes XBMC completely so there is no conflict between XBMC and Hyperspin (or in your case, Boxee) for Direct3D. When Hyperspin/Boxee is exited, the watcher launches XBMC again.
It's programmed around the Aeon Skin, but it shouldn't be that hard to add it to any other skin.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the above however that is for windows and its outdated. I am using customizable confluence so I can make a custom label on the homescreen. I jsut need the launcher to be able to launch boxee, kill xbmc or minimize it (hope that no conflicts arise if minimize), and then relaunch xbmc when boxee is killed. Shouldnt this be possible with this launcher since you can launch other programs?
hey everyone im having few problems importing (.lnk) files. my shortcuts look like this "lcgol.exe - Shortcut" but in properties i can see the (.lnk) ext. ala dont seem to pick it up. what am i doing wrong? thank you

It is related to the "." in the name of the file. Please name your "lcgol.exe - Shortcut" file correctly with the name ot the corresponding game of application. It will also help the scrapers to identify your game.
joelones Wrote:EDIT: I tried mounting the server on a mount ie: /home/xbmc/server/share/Thumbnails and then made a sym link to this directory in the userdata directory still no dice. Same error.
No you will have problem by doing this. Thumbnails in user data and your shared Thumbnails are totally different files. BTW... I have configured my system like yours (linux, roms and images on a distant smb server) and all is working perfectly. So according to all your observation the error seems related to the
shutil.copy2 python command... But only on your system.
Are you using a FAT32 partition ?

Ok... I will have to compile boxee on my system. It could take time...

I think it will be actually the best alternative. I have also encounter on my side Direct3D incompatibilities when XBMC and Dolphin emulator where running at the same time.
Tried it bruv I tried Lara croft guardian of light and to show hidden ext but still not showing up. Tried manually but directory empty.il post the log for you to check I may have done something wrong

linux client (xbmc) to linux server (unraid) via smb. I followed this to get the shared Thumbnail directory going...

I'm not sure it is related to the manner you mount your partition, but if so, here is how I mount my smb server on my system :
Code:
mount.cifs //192.168.2.10/Volume_1/public /media/HDNetwork/ -o nolock,user=angelscry,password=mypassword,domain=MYHOME,gid=1000,uid=1000,noauto,nounix,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=07777
I will continue to investigate on the shutil.copy2 python command with SMB share.
EDIT : One thing you can try is to edit the
launcher_plugin.py file and replace any
shutil.copy2() functions by
shutil.copy().
Alright, bug report time!
The new "Import plot from file" feature is broke. Instead of putting a file path, it put the whole plot! See screenshot:

It also threw an addon.py error, which is here:
http://pastebin.com/f23uU8mJ
The "semi-automatic" scraping is good, but needs 2 things to be perfect:
- A "None" option (that skips scraping that file and moves to the next one. I can manually scrape the file later). Sometimes the scraper is just out to lunch so much that the game doesn't show up in the top 20 list.
- The filename of the ROM being scraped. (I can't tell if the scraper is doing it's job correctly if I don't know the name of the file being scraped). I was scraping "Snatcher" for SegaCD and the scraper told me that it was scraping for "Snack Attack".
