Suggest you check > Android Settings > Home Screen > Recommendations Row > Make Sure there is a Solid DOT next to SPMC.

or try recycling each Recommendation App.

Tell me if this makes sense....
I tried to do another clean install but this time I did it from the recovery mode.
I reinstalled everything and restored my SMPC settings after install with the Backup addon and had the same issue. Sad

For giggles, I restored the device name and web server settings and now I both see the recommended settings and I see results from SMPC when I do a search.
I can't be 100% but I think if you change one or both the device name from Kodi and the web server settings it breaks the SMPC voice search results and home screen recommend videos.
Back to 100% and everything working the way I like. Smile

Update: Confirmed that was my issue: http://kodi.wiki/view/SPMC
Quote:1. Activate the voice search
To activate the voice search the web server has to be on and set with default settings (i.e. user "kodi", no password, port 8080)

thanks, but I have a doubt, I have read in the novice guide that the best version has the S905X CPU, but the one who linked to me from ali express has Quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU. Am I missing something?

About the one on thesolutionshop, I can't find the specs.

The Quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU listed there is the S905X. AMLogic based the design of the S905X of the reference Cortex-A53 design provided by ARM. The S905X is one of many A53 chips Wink

Thanks! I am buying it right now Big Grin
I've noticed I'm having to adjust audio delay on a number of videos using kodi. Has anyone else found this? Any suggestions? The files don't need adjustment on my other boxes (Nexus player, Fire TV)
Box arrived from Solutions Shop yesterday, nice quick delivery there.

Impressive so far, very smooth and the voice to speech kind of worked ok (think I just need to practise a little more). Looking forward to configuring my NAS and having this hooked up to stream all my media Smile

A few questions:
1. As with everything I use these days on the web I add my VPN account, but the only way I could add it on SPMC was to sideload the VPN app which would then have to be opened when I use the box. Is there a way to enter it directly into the box or SPMC as I couldn't find a VPN area that one guide online said should be there.

2. Has anyone tried another power cable (for those in the UK)? The EU power cable is top heavy and easily falls out of the EU-UK adapter I have in the wall, not ideal when I'm wanting to mount this behind the tv and the power adapter daisy chain sticks out 8 inches. I'll look into the output DC voltage and current and see if there's a way of using another smaller power adapter (E.g. iphone charger size) or will build something here at work that's more suitable.
2. These OREI 2 in 1 Power adapters are excellent.
They Grab Hold of all sorts of device Mini Brick power supplies and and hold them in securely. Smile

HOWEVER- do not plug them into a Power Socket that has a metal cover surround
There is a design issue with exposed rivets.

I'm using them for USA Mi Box power to AUS/China wall plugs.

Just tested a Euro Power Brick and the adapter above works for them as well.

The Tight Ass option is Glue the Adapter and Power Brick together.
I'm very happy with my Mi box Smile One little thing though. The Netflix app doesn't give me Dolby 5.1 audio. Kodi and other apps do. Is there a solution for this?
Sorry if I don't get this:
It has a 64bit cpu but it has installed a 32bit system (ie I can install only the arm version of Kodi not the armv8 one)
why it is like this?
Does anyone know which type of art SPMC uses for the home screen recommendations?
I see some shows displaying artwork but not for all, and as far as I can tell the shows/movies that aren't showing have the all the required artwork. I'm trying to figure out if it is a dimensions issue or what?
I don't have this issue with VLC.
Hi guys,

a nice little package with the Mi Box inside arrived yesterday. Smile
I'm planning to get it all setup today and was wondering: Which Kodi should I use?
Official Kodi Krypton RC4, or one of the v18 test builds or SPMC?

I would like to be able to use Amazon VOD with it. A box with Kodi, Amazon and Netflix just sounds sexy. Smile

I read that there still is the auto refresh rate switching problem. But I'm able to manually set the resolution to f.i. 1080p/24p if I know the mkv I'm planning to play is in 24p and all is smooth, isn't it?

Thanks in advance for your help guys!
Gday,

Normal - SPMC 16.5.5 from the Play Store, or a test version of SPMC 16.6.0

And this DIY for Amazon VOD

No idea if any other version of Kodi 18 Leia works for Amazon VOD.
@wrxtasy: So I should install SPMC for normal Kodi usage and Kodi 18 Leia for Amazon VOD usage?
Or does your step by step guide also work with SPMC instead of Leia?

Won't I have 2 different libraries/databases with 2 versions of Kodi installed?
Got my mi box two days ago, so far impressed. Came in brown box as opposed to the orange one, but research tells me that this is correct for the international version. Specs all stated on back of box, no free subscription vouchers like orange box though. So far, no major issues. Heres some things Ive noted:

1. Box is snappy, which is why I moved from my m8s which was great, but very slow to go between options.
2. Wifi speed on my 5ghz network is blistering, Getting up to 150mb on my 150mb fibre

3. Played Avatar 4k movie(4k2k60hz res) on silenthunter, Mostly played fine, some colors off for some reason.
4.The remote is lacking a cursor which is needed in some cases.(eg: If I have a dialog box i want to check never again)
5. handheld apps work fine on hal launcher with orientation setting checked for landscape.
6. I cant get any android remote app to work with it from my phone.
7. The box makes a constant noise while in standby
8. I don't know how to turn this thing off. I keep it on for convenience.
9. Mi box recommends tiles only recommends netflix and red bull app, now only Netflix since I uninstalled red bull.

All in all. Im quite happy with my purchase, though I paid €95 for this box, got it on ebay, incl shipping to Ireland. I thought the shield 2017 was too expensive, so I went for this as a bargain to myself. If I could now, I would take the shield for the extra €130. I dont see the mi box being future proof. I dont even know if it will get Nougat. Its very small and makes a constant noise.

However, it has great wifi speed for me, and quite stable. Ive set res to 1080p-60fhz and it streams live tv great. I use sportsmania a lot for live football, so this box should do another year or two. I would loke to be able to turn it off too

Just a question to anybody

Where could I get an air mouse type remote for this with a curser ? preferably through bluetooth. I find the lack of a curser really annoying at times

You will have to use Kodi Leia exclusively for Amazon VOD only, there are Kodi features that are Inop. Like Addons, Skins etc.
I would keep the main A/V content database in SPMC, as that can be Voice searched with the remote control.

@dermo33,
There is an official Android TV remote control App for Android and iOS.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...mote&hl=en

If that is unsatisfactory, like everyone else using Android Boxes (yes even the Shield) you are going to need to buy a Wireless Air Mouse remote or touchpad keyboard if you want to use such thing as a Chrome Browser or touchscreen Sideloaded Apps.
I use a Wireless MINIX A2 Lite, Air Mouse, Mini Keyboard remote.

SPMC will have TV / Movie titles in the Recommendations Row once you Add your A/V Library and Scrape Metadata.
@wrxtasy: Thx for your help!
Is HD Audio passthrough (dts hd ma, dolby true hd, dts:x and dolby atmos) working on SPMC?

Koying has added IEC Audio passthrough support for the Mi Box and Shield to that test version of SPMC 16.6.0. I have not tested Audio on it

Because it is a test version it has a different Signature so can be installed parallel to the normal Play Store version 16.5.5.
However when SPMC 16.6.0 stable comes out it will use the Kodi database from 16.5.5

Basically use test versions for testing purposes only. Not your day to day Kodi.
