Couldn't find the link on where/how to create new keys among my bookmarks, but perhaps I will find some spare time the nearest days and try to fix it all. If it even is related to the API keys, otherwise I don't know what to do, except using YouTube outside of Kodi, which would be very sad.

Okay. I completely reinstalled the addon (deleted the settings) and now it works again (with my own api keys).
Great! Did you use the same API keys as before, or did you create new ones?

used the same as before

Did the same, uninstalled the Youtube addon and removed the settings, while having saved a copy of the file api_keys.json, which I then replaced after having reinstalled the addon, and after a new sign in everything but the custom watch later id had to be updated as well, which I did by copying the old key from the saved access_manager.json file, and now everything works as it did before.

Still curious on what did happen to the addon. I tried removing a bunch of settings files for the addon manually before I uninstalled it, but that did not help. Also removed all caches, but did nothing useful either. At least reinstalling it completely works, but still interesting, especially since it wasn't just me with this issue.

Are all videos without sound or only some?
I am asking because I found one video which has no sound when played with the Kodi addon on Linux
Quote:Running: YouTube (6.8.23+matrix.1) on Matrix (Kodi-19.4) with Python 3.9.15
A video with sound can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWmTjp-UQfc
The video without sound, same publisher, can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvlqJipNDf0

The difference between the two videos, according to mpv, is the audio codec used:
- video with sound: "aac 2ch 44100Hz"
- video without sound: "opus 2ch 48000Hz"

I need to check whether my system has opus support available for the youtube addon.
But according to this post from Feb 21 https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3013745 it looks bad:
Quote:InputStream Adaptive doesn't support the OPUS or Vorbis audio streams currently.
Is this limitation still in place?

EDIT: According to https://github.com/xbmc/inputstream.adap...1114994524 InputStream Adaptive supports Opus as of now.
EDIT2: never mind, sent PR fixing the playback of videos with opus audio: https://github.com/anxdpanic/plugin.vide...e/pull/379
Windows defender is flagging api_keys.xxx (xxx because I'm not sure of the extension} as an infected file. So I had to exclude my kodi folder from it's scans. Makes me wonder if this might be a problem for every kodi user with windows installs.
How do I convince the addon that I am over 18 to view age restricted content?  My Youtube profile has my correct birthdate, I can watch it on the computer, I cannot play on Kodi or watch it on the addon.
What settings do you have for safe search and age gate in the addons settings (at the bottom of the general tab in the settings screen for the addon - you may need to scroll down to see them)?
Thanks, I thought I had scrolled but didn't.  Fixed now.
Well I thought it was fixed.  Changed the age gate to off and safe search to none restarted addon, restarted Kodi, rebooted; still get the age restriction.  Makes a 71 year old feel good.

It's useless this settings... apparently it's not works.
There's some video it's unplayable also if you have disabled the age gate....... this issue/bug it's also bein discussed on github issue.
Is this still under development or is it just being bugfixed and patched as it breaks?

Just curious if I should go ahead and fork this to make it work or wait until the actual developer does so.
Disregard last post that I can't edit. I answered my own question.
It's late so I don't have a log file right now but I'll come back with one when I have time.  But I think I've discovered the oddest bug ever.  For the last few weeks, the occasional video in my My Subscriptions list will result in Kodi hanging entirely.  I can replicate this on multiple Windows machines running Kodi, and it even seems specific to the Confluence skin.  (I don't deal with change well.  You're lucky I'm still not trying to use Project Mayhem 3. Tongue)

Right now for example, when this video is on the page for 'My Subscriptions' or I go to the specific Channel, Kodi hangs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcmNqyMXths

This was the first one I found doing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TabGLlPK9M&t=2s

Looking at these, I'm realizing the two things they have in common: They have emoticons in their titles.  Is it possible that the emoticons are crashing Confluence?  They just show up as boxes in Estuary?  I wonder if this is less a 'YouTube Addon' issue and more a 'Confluence problem, but YouTube is of the few places where emoticons could turn up in the title'?  I'll get a debug log with both skins when I have the chance.

I can confirm that those videos crash (lock up) my Kodi installation on a Dell Desktop running Win 10. I am also running the Confluence Skin. I have never seen this problem before.

@nymdbwdp - odd, I would have thought those privs should have auto-enabled by now.

Anyway I've gone in and tweaked your account, so you should have them now.
Thanks @DarrenHill

It looks like YouTube API (Google API*?) has changed and at least in my case I have not been able to get this (or tubed) to work.

I don't have a whole lot of time to spend on this but from what I can see in the github changelogs it's mostly [FIX] so I think it's time for a fork and a redesign.

I will put it in my future plans but right now I'm already working on a rework for Amazon VOD which got bumped to try and work out some Peacock TV API stuff and various other projects.

This is not a bug report or request for help on the YouTube addon, just a note.
