(2023-04-30, 06:32)xxfury2xx Wrote: [ -> ]The fix proposed by @arsMOBILIS is only a partial fix. When using MPEG Dash videos die about 0:40 to 1:00 in. Disabling MPEG Dash is a little better, but not perfect. Most videos die about 3/4 of the way through. Only a few play all the way through to the end.

My current config:
OS: Windows 10
Kodi ver: 20.1.0
YouTube Plugin ver: 7.0.1 (stable)

@xxfury2xx what does MPEG Dash do? I realized mine has been turned off since when I originally installed this addon so not sure what MPEG Dash adds...

I have gpio buttons set to youtube playlists. It seems like I'll often get this error the first time I try to boot up youtube but subsequent tries it will usually play
Thought I did that already, however i can't see it listed there, So, added it in. Hope it can be implemented, would be a great feature.
I'm sure this has been answered before but I couldn't see it...

I'm still using Kodi 18.9 (Leia) so can't update to the latest Youtube plugin as it's Python 3.

I see there's still a Python 2 version in the Isengard branch.

My questions are:

1) Will the plugin in the official Kodi addon repository for Leia be updated from this branch? i.e. can I just wait a bit and it will automatically update? Or do I need to manually download a ZIP each update and manage it manually?
2) Is there a repository I can add that will give me the unofficial python 2 youtube plugin (assuming it's updated - there doesn't seem to be an Isengard-unofficial branch?)

Thanks.

I don't think anyone knows the answer to this yet. But I think it will become clear after the release of the next stable version.

As a 'side note',  the "Youtube Channels" add-on was just updated, with the following info....

Hi there,

youtube keeps on changing their algorithm and programming so often. Very annoying.
I wonder if it is possible, to let the youtube Addon play locally stored (i.e. on Samba server) backups of the trailer instead?

Is there such a command or option available?

The basic command to play smth. seems to be:

plugin://plugin.video.youtube/?action=play_video&videoid=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

In my case, space doesn't really matter and I'd like to be independent from their permanentely changing Youtube algorithm...

if you prefer local trailers instead of using youtube, kodi has a mechanism for this which does not involve this addon - https://kodi.wiki/view/Trailers
Sure I know, but I have a particular issue, why I'd need it to be played through the YT-Addon.

For native playback of my Mediaplayer, I need this App (XBMCWrapper) which wraps my Samba drive with all its movies to native playback instead of using the built-in-Kodi-Player.
This way I can navigate and use Kodi just as everyone else, but just when I'm starting the movie inside Kodi, it switches to native playback of the mediaplayer (for perfect fitting playback, synced FPS and so on).

But this also leads to the problem that also the trailers stored on the samba drive are automatically played via native playback (Fullscreen playback).

For a nice playback of the trailer just inside the Selection screen itself (just as here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIPbwfpFtCo) right now I need to turn the XBMCWrapper off. But then, I cannot use the Wrapper for the movies anymore....

That's why I'd prefer to play the backup trailer via the Youtube Plugin, cause this kind of playback works together with the Wrapper App.

Thanks.
Btw, Is the Leia version better than/similar to the JimmyS83 verision quoted above?
Diifferences between 6.8.26alpha5 and 6.28.27alpha7

                                            6.8.26alpha5                           6.8.27alpha7

Base Nexus version            7.0.2alpha5                         up from 7.0.2alpha7
Number of clients sets             3                                               4
Multiroom                              No                                            Yes

Basic 7.0.2 client settiings set ("Default" in 6.8.26 and "Alternate 3" in 6.8.27) has serious improvement after 7.0.2alpha7 and works really good

Thank you very much. It seems MPEG-DASH is still flaky with me under Leia with this one. 720p30 is the maximum I can get for most videos. The older 6.18.25-new2 can play up to 4K at 60fps for everything but certain specific videos (such as this one) produce a "video not available" error with the following bit visible in kodi.log:
ERROR: C:\Users\Dioxaz\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons\script.module.urllib3\lib\urllib3\connectionpool.py:1050: InsecureRequestWarning: Unverified HTTPS request is being made to host 'youtubei.googleapis.com'. Adding certificate verification is strongly advised. See: https://urllib3.readthedocs.io/en/1.26.x...l-warnings
Can You give me some links to videos You can't play in resolution higher than 720p?
Okay, here we go. These are some videos which won't play higher than 720p30 with the "Default" player:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXlZXH4aQ5k
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSYBZE4ndx0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0cvNYAXtxc

However, I was suggested to try out the "Alternate" players (my bad, I overlooked that new option) in Advanced settings and this does indeed solve the capping at 720p30. However, 60fps now only goes up to 1080p (4K 30fps videos will still play fine), even if I manually select "2160p60" from the drop down menu. 6.8.25 does go up to 4K at 60fps (the 3 videos I linked above are all 4K at 50 or 60fps).

By the way, my InputStream Adaptive version is 2.4.8, I forgot to mention that.
