2. Sounds a bit strange that you are having issues. As i understand people can run this on there Pi that has lower specs and works quite well. I assume this is not a fresh/clean install.
But here are some things to keep in mind or to try in order of most importance; (really number 2 should be first place and 3,4 and 5 are not always the best solutions but i like to think of them as the last resort, anyway just a guess at what you could try since you have not provided a debug log)
1. Downloading then Pasting the GitHub download over the top of the existing silvo skin folder will break things (things change and get removed and left over files screw your install)
2. PROVIDE A DEBUG LOG SO WE CAN SEE WHAT IS SLOWING YOUR SYSTEM DOWN
3. Reset your main menu
4. Delete and rescan your database
5. Try a fresh install of kodi

I always (!) download from github and then complete remove the old folder and copy the new one
maybe i will try to do a completely fresh install of windows... can you tell me what i have to save so that i can restore the main menu?
deleting the database is not a thing i want to try because there all the watched/unwatched flags etc. ...
and another thing i´ve seen:
as you can see, the description of the movie is in english, well, it should be in german... :/
In all other views it is in german, also in the info screen:
Can you tell me, what i have to do, that in the first view the description of the movie is in german?
In extended info script language is german, also in the scrappers...

Ps.: Mh, just disabled the option "replace with extended info for movies and series", now it seems that the movies direct play without loosing control over the gui...
Pps.: another question: for live-tv, there is a nice plugin called "umschalt-timer", (switching timer)... so in epg you cann set a "switching timer" and then kodi will switch to the live-tv on this channel to the time
so similar like "do a recording", but it doesn´t record, but it switches to the channel
very useful, if you want to watch soccer live saturday afternoon and before you listen to music/... in kodi, you can set such a timer an to the time of the tv-show it will automatically switch to the show
